Oh man. My favorite book of 2018 for sure! I read this on a trip around Northern Ireland, Wales & Cornwall which seems SO appropriate. I had chills after every single chapter. This is a piece of magic I have already recommended to every single friend, have written down quotes from..it just really makes you think about life and that, in my opinion, is the best kind of book!

I don't know why I've been putting this series off for so long. I LOVE everything else Patrick Ness has written but this book was a pain to get through. I haven't had anxiety while reading in a long time but somehow my brain couldn't handle the violence, the constant fear and brutality of this. I don't know how to get through the other two now but I don't want to bail on one of my favorite authors! 🙈😭

The Ending. OH MY.
This book gave me shivers, made me both laugh and scream out loud but also appreciate the human mind so much. I just hope that Adam Silvera never stops publishing books. Ever.

I tiptoed around this book at first
Not wanting to let it drag me all the way down
Into the spirals, the thoughts, the truths of it.
But now that I've read it all,
The lovely, the nail-chewing, the teary bits And everything in between
I wish I could start all over again
For I feel whole.
But the wholeness will not last nearly
As long enough as my days.

isagination also the @rosianna acknowledgment made me squeal with joy 🌟💙☺️ @johngreen 7y

I AM READYYYYY *reads first sentence and gasps*

ReadingSusan Right? Amazing first sentence. 7y
isagination @ReadingSusan it's perfect! I'm on the last 20 pages now and I don't want it to end yet!! Feel like there's so much we could still explore from these characters, like we're only scratching the surface of their stories.. 7y

this book. wow!
I've never felt so heavy, read my own thoughts/emotions about loss and grief so eloquently written down in a book without it being too hard to read. How can a human write like this? Beautiful!!

Easytiger That‘s how I felt so many things were directly from my life it was almost personal.... 7y
isagination @Spacecowboytx I read this on a 14hr train journey and the amount of times I had to pull my scarf up to my eyes to cover up the tears was insane! not a good book to read in public haha 7y

We Are Okay | Nina LaCour

"I wonder if there's a secret current that connects people who have lost something. Not in the way that everyone loses something, but in the way that undoes your life, ..." I LOVE the way Nina LaCour paints these incredibly accurate thought-landscapes with her words. Beautiful!

I loved the writing style A LOT, however the story itself was not fully complete in my opinion. I can't quite say what it is but there was a link missing that made it weird for me. Maybe it's intentional :D

I LOVED this. It was heartbreaking and difficult to read emotionally but I was in complete awe when I saw the two worlds come together and intertwine as Caden himself slowly pieced himself back together. Brilliant work!

I was very excited to read this book - but to be honest I expected more from it. the characters could've been more detailed, the story unfolded way too fast, every obstacle was overcome and the protagonist happy. I mean it is YA so it makes sense that it's simple-ish but.. I still enjoyed it though!

LitHousewife I need to read this one, too. Why is it just sitting on my shelf??? 8y
isagination @LitHousewife Yeees! then again, it does take up a lot of time and mind space so I understand that one might keep it for a special occasion/time window ☺️ 8y
DoodlesDistractions I go to pick it up and realize how MUCH of a time commitment it is but so excited when I get a chance to have the time to read it! 8y

Written in a very lovable and witty commentary kinda way & definitely entertaining, but I found the conclusion of the book to be lacking a sort of essence. If you need something light in between long heavy books this is good though!

I don't have much more to say as this is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOOKS and I rarely say that. The descriptive writing and character development is simply insane!

More Than This | Patrick Ness

I like to add 'soundtracks' to a book so here are my 3 favorites that you should listen to in my opinion whilst reading the book:
Hello Sweet World - Gangs of Ballet
Wasteland - The Gardener and the Tree
Carry On - Fun.

This is the kind of y/a book that I read in one sitting, 6 hours and I was through and had entered a new world - one of my favorite things about books - without even realizing that so much time had passed. Not too deep but a lovely and funny read.
