#TBRtemptation post! This is a graphic novel of true history. In 1965, Sorel was fixing up his apartment & tearing up the kitchen floor when he came across issues of the NY Daily News & Daily Mirror from '36, each with articles about the actress's scandalous child custody trial in Hollywood. The whole thing centered around her diary, found by her ex-husband. Sorel illustrates her bio too. Want to read this one 😊👍🏻! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Wife @Reviewsbylola Look at this! I may get this to read along with The Purple Diaries that you sent me for #CupidGoesPostal I've never read a graphic novel, but I may start with this one. 💜💜💜 8y

Pickpick

This fully illustrated story about a sex scandal back in 1936 involving the actress Mary Astor is right up my alley. I had heard about this story for years, and jumped at the chance to learn more. Mary, when fighting for custody of her daughter, has her dirty laundry aired for the world to see, when her husband blackmails her with the contents of her diary. The illustrations are amazing, and I loved this for the most part. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommended!

JenlovesJT47 What I didn't like about it was the author inserting bits of his own life story throughout the book. Frankly, I didn't care, to be blunt. And it messed with the flow of the story. Still, the parts that are actually about Mary Astor are very compelling. She led a very sad but fascinating life! 8y

rubyslippersreads I remember my mother telling me about this scandal. Apparently quite shocking at the time. 😮 (edited) 8y
quietjenn @rubyslippersreads I'd never heard anything about it, so that aspect was super interesting. Now I want to watch/re-watch some of her films. 8y

While I didn't receive any books under the tree, my husband did allow me to pick this one up at The Bookstore in Lenox, MA.
