Borrowed Crime: A Bookmobile Cat Mystery
Borrowed Crime: A Bookmobile Cat Mystery | Laurie Cass
8 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
Librarian Minnie Hamilton spreads the joy of reading throughout Chilson, Michigan, with her bookmobile, but she doesn t ride alone. Her rescue cat, Eddie, and a group of volunteers are always on board to deliver cheer until one of her helpers gets checked out for good... When Minnie loses a grant that was supposed to keep the bookmobile running, she s worried her pet project could come to its final page. But she s determined to keep her patrons and Eddie s fans happy and well read. She just needs her boss, Stephen to see things her way, and make sure he doesn t see Eddie. The library director doesn t exactly know about the bookmobile s furry co-pilot. But when a volunteer dies on the bookmobile s route, Minnie finds her traveling library in an even more precarious position. Although the death was originally ruled a hunting accident, a growing stack of clues is pointing towards murder. It s up to Minnie and Eddie to find the killer, and fast before the best chapter of her life comes to a messy close "

Number three in the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series and we're picking up steam. I'm getting used to the characters and finding them less similar to the Aurora Teagarden series as I get to know them. Definitely a cute series and I will keep reading. #35-2022

I mostly liked this book except for one aspect— blame. A volunteer on the bookmobile is killed after he goes into a gas station on his lunch break. Minnie — our hero — blames herself. The sister of the man sues the library for negligence as well. I just can‘t see how any of this is Minnie‘s fault. Was she supposed to not allow a grown man to go get his lunch? The botanical gardens are decorated for the holidays.

I really enjoy this series for light listening while I walk.

#grateful21 Day 9, I think... Grateful today for:
1. Another gorgeous spring day and another walk at the beach - here‘s a view of Orient Point way across the Sound
2. An unnecessary but much-enjoyed fire in the fireplace after our walk
3. Snuggling up with the tagged book and my Edie-kitty in front of the fire
And bonus: more homemade cookies (peanut butter!) because I guess I‘m fattening us up for summer?! 😆

I love Eddie, the Bookmobile cat. I also love that he says “Mrrr” like my own Mikey-Cat does.
