Just Watch Me: A Novel | Jeff Lindsay

A masterful thief plots an impossible crimestealing the Iranian Crown Jewels. From the author of the wildly successful Dexter series comes a new, mesmerizing bad guy we can root for: Riley Wolfe. Hes a master thief, expert at disguise, and not averse to violence when its needed. Its no accident, though, that Riley targets the wealthiest 0.1 percent and is willing to kill them when theyre in his way: he despises the degenerate and immoral rich and loves stealing their undeserved and unearned valuables. In this series launch, Riley aims for an extraordinary target in a heist that will make history. Riley will try to steal the Crown Jewels of Iran. Yes, these jewels are worth billions, but the true attraction for grabbing them comes down to one simple fact: it cant be done. Stealing these jewels is absolutely impossible. The collection is guarded by space-age electronics and two teams of heavily armed mercenaries. No one could even think of getting past the airtight security and hope to get away alive, let alone with even a single diamond from the Imperial Collection. No one but Riley Wolfe. Hes always liked a challenge. But this challenge may be more than even he can handle. Aside from the impenetrable security, Riley is also pursued by a brilliant and relentless cop who is barely a step behind him. With the aid of his sometime ally, a beautiful woman who is a master art forger, Riley Wolfe goes for the prize that will either make him a legendor, more likely, leave him dead.

It‘s no Dexter. Riley‘s moral failings are glaring and the background they give as explanation is not enough for me to overlook his “Darkness”. I love a heist but I found it to be very cartoony at points.

I already purchased the 2nd in the series and I will read it but I hope Lindsay grows the characters more.

Starting this one this morning, I looked over the reviews for this book and ...they are not so favorable, but I love a heist so I‘m trying it out. Picturing Riley Wolfe as Matt Bomer in White Collar, photo on the left is the real version of the potential trophy, the Iranian Crown Jewel, the Sea of Light 🤩💎

I felt the chapters in this book were a lot longer then they needed to be. A lot of detail but Riley Wolfe was a greatly complexed character which I enjoyed.

This started a little slow for me. But once Katrina Hobson entered the story the pace picked up and I had a lot of fun. Riley Wolfe is a true sociopath and he has no problem killing people who get in his way. There is one person he seems to like but it is unclear if he views her as a conquest or if he has real feelings.

The heist planning and execution was exciting. It seemed impossible, so trying to figure out what Riley would do next was fun.

My current read. I picked this up because I love his Dexter series. I‘m a third of the way in. So far it‘s good but not great.

FantasyChick I felt the same. Love the show but I found the books a little lacking. I still haven't made my way through the whole series 5y

I was so excited to see something new from Jeff Lindsay, but honestly, I‘m not loving this so far. It feels like “If Dexter Was a Jewel Thief,” and Riley is a watered-down, not nearly as compelling Dexter, complete with an obsessed law enforcement figure who just won‘t rest until he nabs him. We‘ll see if it gets better, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ #justwatchme #jefflindsay

I read this in 2 days - could not put it down. A terrific, fun crime novel. Clever plot & interesting protagonist - Riley Wolfe is an elite criminal who performs daring heists, does parkour & is a master of disguise. He‘s inventive, but will he succeed? FBI agent Del Grado searches for Wolfe‘s family history so there‘s a road trip w classic American scenes in police stations & diners w bad coffee. All the Dexter feels. Thanks #netgalley loved it.

Cathythoughts Sounds good 👍🏻❤️ 5y

Wowza!! Thanks, #NetGalley for the chance to check out Jeff Lindsay‘s newest anti-hero!! Riley Wolfe is charming- and a master of disguises and an expert thief! This book is just plain fun!! There are some echoing similarities with Dexter, but not in a bad way- honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish and absolutely cannot wait to see what he pulls off next!! I‘m excited to have a new series to follow!!

Abailliekaras Me too! All the Dexter feels. ❤️ 5y
