Another 4-6 grade book club option. I love that Jack‘s sister is autistic without coming out to say it and the story is great. It‘s the 1st book in a series. I wish it didn‘t end at the start of a next adventure (for my purposes) but like that it will get kids to want to continue the series. I‘ll use this one if I decide to add a June event because kids love graphic novels. Decisions, decisions 🤔

Great reimagining of the 'Jack and the Beanstalk' story. Ben Hatke never lets me down. Can't wait for the second book!

Ben Hatke is popular in the middle grades for his Zita the Spacegirl series (which I think everyone should read no matter how old you are!). I buy his books for my school librarian friends and they can't keep them on the shelf! Mighty Jack is no exception. There's magic, intrigue, and lots of action but like his other books, the heart of it is friends & family. He's one of my favorite authors. And meeting him was as fun as reading his books. 😆

I'm so excited to get an early copy of Ben Hatke's new graphic novel. This twist on the Jack & the Beanstalk story sees some old friends meeting compelling new characters like Jack, Maddy, and Lily. And Hatke's amazing art is very much a fourth character In this delightful adventure.
