My eldest daughter told me to read this and glad I did. Though it‘s a tough read, it is important. I remember watching Keri Strug getting injured at Summer Olympics in the 1990s, and Karoly telling her to finish and win. Just the tip of the iceberg re: abuse. The mental, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of these gymnasts … 😭🤬😡 These predators got away with this for 30+ years, sanctioned by Olympics/schools & colleges/medical authorities/⬇️
This is a #reread for me, and I can‘t imagine the tremendous pressure Simone is under right now. (Spoilers about team final ⬇️) I can‘t imagine being asked about sexual abuse that happened associated with USAGym when I‘m trying to win the Olympics.
The bravery of all Nasser‘s survivors over the nearly 30 years(!) of his abuse astounds me! I‘m also glad that many gymnasts are speaking out about abusive/racist coaching, too. #audiobook
Such a hard #audiobook to listen to and a nightmare for the girls who survived Nasser‘s abuse. Major TW for child sexual abuse.
This book chronicles the Nasser‘s hometown victims: the athletes who went to the gym and MSU where Larry “treated” girls much more frequently than the athletes at the National Training Camp. She also discusses the severe mental abuse that many coaches do and how this made the girls even more vulnerable to Nasser.

Trigger warning: sexual assault
A must-read especially, for anyone who has kids. In the words of one gymnast; little girls grow up to be strong women. The second book this month I have read, where abuse went on for 30 years. 😦These girls were let down numerous times by parents, coaches, and police. I admire these courageous girls/women, who came forward to share their story.
