My non-fiction read for September Staunch by Eleanor Wood. I really enjoyed reading about Eleanor's life and the important people in her life. How the different heartbreaks affected her and the trip to Goa with her older relatives helped her out with her life. #nonfiction

I really really enjoyed this book, I didn‘t realise that this book was actually a memoir. The synopsis didn‘t give you the impression that it was a memoir as it‘s classed as Religion, Spirituality and Travel. I don‘t really read many memoirs as some of them can be a bit hit and miss. This memoir however had me well and truly hooked before I finished the first chapter. I think most women will be able to relate to this book.

My Rating: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In this memoir, Eleanor goes on holiday to Goa, with her Nan and two Great Aunts, trying to find herself. The blurb on the front * is rather hyperbolic and, in fact, the book would have done better to concentrate on the ladies‘ early years in India, which were far more interesting.
Still, the book was enjoyable, if a little light on substance.

Following a difficult few years and a mental health crisis, Ellie is asked to accompany her Nan and two great-aunts on holiday to India, where the older ladies had spent their childhood/teenage years, before partition forced them ‘home‘ (they‘d never even visited) to the UK. Staunch tells the stories of all four ladies, their relationship and their holiday.

🌺Started Staunch (#netgalley ARC ebook) - bit of a curveball (I just liked the title. And cover) but it‘s incredibly readable.
