Interview with the Robot
Interview with the Robot | Lee Bacon
3 h 42 m audible exclusive audio book.
Fugitive. Criminal. Robot.
A sci-fi adventure for young listeners, Interview with the Robot introduces a unique heroine who seeks the truth about herself.
Eve looks like an ordinary 12-year-old girl, but there's nothing ordinary about her. She has no last name. No parents or guardian. She's on the run from a dangerous and secretive organization that will stop at nothing to track her down.
And most astonishing of all: She's a robot, a product of Eden Laboratories. When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a life. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she's ever known.
After being arrested for shoplifting, Eve is interviewed by Petra Amis from Child Welfare Services. Her incredible story unfolds during the interrogation, with flashbacks to her life inside Eden Laboratories, which has a dark secret. Listeners follow Eve from her first moment of consciousness to her evolution as a nearly-human companion to Emory, the son of the founder of Eden Laboratories.
Exploring a range of topics that drive our society and our lives---topics such as artificial intelligence and human nature---Interview with the Robot is a story told by a startlingly original protagonist, a story that explores the vast potential of technology and the deep complexities of humanity.

#audibleoriginal January free pick from audible. Thanks to a recommendation from @wanderinglynn I enjoyed the book. The MC is 12, and this seemed best for the preteen crowd. My 9 year old daughter absolutely loved it. It‘s pretty rare a book for elementary aged readers has such a good twist.

This had a lot of background music and what not. I think it was super cute :)

Meh for me. Cute and a great way to get kids thinking about the ethics of text, but I found some parts just too unbelievable for me to really enjoy it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was super cute! I didn‘t expect it to end up being what it turned out to be which was super cute. I love when I can‘t predict the ending. #BlueCover

So, I just listened to the first 2 chapters while I was making my lunch for work tomorrow. I think I am going to really enjoy this one. It seems like it had a full cast so its super engaging! I am excited. I will probably finish it in a couple days (I work the next 2 days so, just the commute and lunch would be more than enough time to finish it)

yay for a good pick!

This is one of the Audible free options for January. Wasn‘t sure how it would be, but I found the story engaging and rather fun. It briefly skimmed the surface on some deeper questions about AI without answering them. But still a fun story.

runswithscissors007 I keep reading good things about the audible free reads. I never knew they existed! This one caught my eye this month. Thanks for the review! 4y
wanderinglynn @runswithscissors007 I‘ve listened to maybe half a dozen audible exclusives. So far I‘ve enjoyed the ones I‘ve picked. 👍🏻 4y
ElizaMarie Ooo. I was thinking of listening to this one! I am glad you liked it (it pushed me over the edge to get this one this month) I am excited now! yay! Which was the other one you picked this month? (Since you had commented to @runswithscissors007 that you pick good ones! I am gonna copy you this month). 4y

wanderinglynn @ElizaMarie the other freebie I got this month is Junkyard Cats. But I haven‘t started it yet. 4y
ElizaMarie @wanderinglynn ooo maybe I will wait to see your review on that one :) For some reason this month none of the audible originals really jumped out at me. 4y
wanderinglynn @ElizaMarie I felt the same way. The robot one was the only one that came close to sounding interesting and it was. But I‘m not as sure with Junkyard Cats. 4y
ElizaMarie @wanderinglynn I was thinking of the robot one but didn‘t want it to be to “childish”. I like YA but I didn‘t want to read something too baby you know? I was considering the self help one but ugh I don‘t know. 4y

So. Much. Fun.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

(Listened at 1.5x speed, as usual).

Chrissyreadit I tried to up the speed on my audio but I kept getting distracted by the sound 😂 I‘m wondering if I just need to practice? 4y
Avanders @Chrissyreadit lol probably. But also, I‘d definitely start slower. Some players let you speed it up a 10th at a time, some a quarter. Try 1.25 speed? 4y
Chrissyreadit I will try that!! 4y
