It was Oh Kay. Interesting story, but thin. Surprising because it's obvious that there was a lot of effort in it's world building.

This was a really fun one and just what I needed. Roller derby on Mars, a hefty and believable dose of teen angst, and a bit of a mystery to close it out. I'll definitely be picking up Volume 2!

Yah! I've liked Abel for a long time now. I already care about Patricia and am exited to read what's next. It comes out next week.

8leagueboot I love how Abel just dives into Trish's teen angst and gets it right. Sometimes I feel like writers who go for writing believable teens by focusing on their emotional frustrations miss the mark and end up writing unlikeable teens. 7y

These are the only #comicsbywomen that I've read... Okay they're the only ones I've read period. 😂

#anditsaugust @RealLifeReading

readinginthedark Must read more comics and graphic novels! 😊Was the Roller Girl one good? 7y
EchoLogical @readinginthedark I thought it was okay. I'm not sure if I'm really a graphic novel person, though. 7y
readinginthedark Well, that's okay. To each his/her own. I think they're worth exploring from time to time, especially since there are so many different sub-genres now. But no judgment. 😉 7y

Alicia @GemintheRough haha! I am the queen of typos so I feel you. I will have to check it out next time I'm home! I usually go to Mission Comics. Also I love Oakland too. I dream that one day I can afford to live there 😂😭 8y
GemintheRough @Alicia yes there's a part of me that regrets moving from the bay knowing I could never afford moving back!! 😢 8y

I liked it, but I'm gonna need more. It ends a little abruptly, and I wish it had been a bit more fleshed out. But I definitely want to continue! Also, I don't want to live on Mars, unless I could be a Rollergirl. #graphicnovel #midnightbookgirl

I am very lucky in that I have about 5 libraries within 15 minutes of my house but bookstores are another story. The closest bookstore is about 25-30 minutes across town so when we had lunch near a Barnes & Noble I convinced my husband to make a stop. So despite yesterday's plea to myself to stop buying books, everyone in the family picked up something. I, of course, got the most. 😬

(There is a comic book store near work that I need check out.)

Serotonin Amazon is a major danger to me - easy access and purchases in a matter of a few clicks 😆😩 📚 💰 💰 💰 😵 8y
Alfoster Amazon is Satan! Guess that makes me a believer as I can't stay away either!😂😂😂😂 8y
MarriedtoMrT @Alfoster @Serotonin I also have an Amazon habit but paired with a need for instant gratification so my Amazon purchases tend to only be ebooks (which also tend to be cheaper and make me feel less guilty.) I rarely buy physical books so this was kind of special (but expensive!) 8y

Patricia "Trish Trash" Nupondju is a talented young hoverderby player on Mars 200 years in the future. Trish wants desperately to go pro because it seems like the only way to escape a future of poverty and hard labor on her family's moisture farm in Candor Chasma. But even if she could make the team, she's too young to get a contract, and her family is going beyond faster than get escape velocity.
