Don't Make Me Think, Revisited
Don't Make Me Think, Revisited: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability | Steve Krug
12 posts | 14 read | 3 reading | 3 to read
Since Dont Make Me Think was first published in 2000, hundreds of thousands of Web designers and developers have relied on usability guru Steve Krugs guide to help them understand the principles of intuitive navigation and information design. Witty, commonsensical, and eminently practical, its one of the best-loved and most recommended books on the subject. Now Steve returns with fresh perspective to reexamine the principles that made Dont Make Me Think a classicwith updated examples and a new chapter on mobile usability. And its still short, profusely illustratedand best of allfun to read. If youve read it before, youll rediscover what made Dont Make Me Think so essential to Web designers and developers around the world. If youve never read it, youll see why so many people have said it should be required reading for anyone working on Web sites. After reading it over a couple of hours and putting its ideas to work for the past five years, I can say it has done more to improve my abilities as a Web designer than any other book. If you work with websites and you haven‘t read this book, doooo! It‘s hugely helpful and very fun. Krug is very funny and the illustrations are great.

If you don‘t work with websites, but you‘re interested in what works and doesn‘t, you might like this, too.

On a usable website, your average person can figure out how to do what they need or want to do—without the hassle outweighing the payoff. ❤️

The #20in4 couldn‘t have come at a better time. I‘m sick about the news so I‘m going on a little self-protection reading vacation. (With occasional anger and despair flare-ups.) So thank you, @Andrew65 !

I‘m focusing on finishing books/page counts. The first books are on my #bigjunereadathon list.

—Don‘t Make Me Think—finish (easy read)
—He Saw That It Was Good—finish (contemplative read)
—The Great Passage—100 pages

Andrew65 Totally agree about the news 😡 Hope the readathon helps. 2y

Great resource to clean up any website/app for the user experience. Knowing what is essential for you to say is only what needs to be said on your website. I felt that every suggestion could also be applied to any meeting I‘ve ever attended😜

I am very interested in UX design and this book was a great intro on how to make websites user friendly. @Litsy is one of the apps I admire most. I think it is very well-designed and thought out. And not to mention, tons of fun to use!

Fabulous introduction to UX. Fun to read, pithy, and incredibly useful.
