For a book labeled as romance with such a pretty cover, you wouldn‘t think you were getting in to a brutal, graphic story, but you most certainly are. Sea of Ruin was compulsively readable and full of action, with a ferocious female main character, seriously hot men, and some scary bad guys… the writing is good, even if some of the pirate lingo was cringey, but I wanted a little more graphic 🌶 after surviving so much graphic torture.😳

“Why is she laughing?” one asked. “Does she not realize her crew threw her overboard to save their own hides?” “She‘s mad as a March hare,” the second lieutenant said. “Oh, my foolish lads.” Grinning maniacally, I pushed to a sitting position and straightened the shirt to cover my nudity. “You have no idea what you just invited onto your ship.”

“I can‘t seem to make sense of you.”
“It‘s easy, Commodore. Just think of the smartest man you know, remove all the hauteur and bigotry, and add a larger pair of testicles.”
“Disturbing.”

Wow this was a ride of a book. A very dark (see content warnings in comments), very hot pirate romance. It is A LOT, but I could not stop reading it. The heroes of this story are fantastic, but seriously read the trigger warnings before trying this book. 4⭐️
