Just finished this and decided to take a crappy picture of it. Photo quality is definitely not a reflection of the book's quality. I recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about injustice.
In NOBODY, Marc Lamont Hill situates his conversation within a larger conversation, connected to other writers and scholars. In the spirit of this connectedness he draws parallels between the deaths of my unarmed black men, providing history and context that is necessary to understand how this system of violence and discrimination is created and then perpetuated. #resist #diversebooks

Nobody: Casualties of America's War on the Vulnerable
Because we need to better understand how race and class affect life today.
TBR explosion alert! I look forward to this list every year. This year, many more of these recommendations were on my radar thanks to Litsy 💋, but I still found more! (Always)
Happy hunting!

Starting this tonight! Has anyone read it yet?
I just got this book in the mail, and I can't wait to read it! Definitely an appropriate and necessary read considering what's going on in the U.S. this week.
An especially pleasing hold list haul today.
Both relevant to Right Now. Will hopefully get to post my thoughts when I'm done. I'm so over politics today. I can't argue anymore. Closing the doors. Curling up. Regrouping. Try again tomorrow.
"They just left him there...Like he ain't belong to nobody." That is the premise, unfortunately, of the American society we live in today and this book eloquently & widely explores this fact. Dr. Hill provides informative historical connections to the happenings of today & allows readers to critically examine the on-going pattern. If you don't open your eyes, mind & soul after reading this and want to helpfully incite change, you're dead inside.
