"Twenty years ago a boy disappeared, and only Rose and her family know what happened to him. Haunted by guilt, Rose escaped into a new life. Now she has it all: a marriage, a son, a career. And then her husband is found dead. As far as Detective Colin Pearson is concerned, Rose is guilty. Her marriage wasn't as happy as she'd led everyone to believe, and worse, she's connected to a twenty-year-old cold case. She can play the part of the victim, but he won't let her or her family escape justice this time around. Grieving her husband and struggling to make ends meet, Rose returns home hoping to finally confront her domineering father and unstable sister. But memories of a horrific crime echo through the house, and Rose soon learns that she can't trust anyone, especially not the people closest to her"--

Mehso-so

This #audiobook is engaging from the start- Rose leaves her home in WI with her son to return her childhood home. A mystery writer, her husband‘s death also sparks the interest of a detective who starts digging into her life. Rose must confront her own memories too. Parts of the plot follow predictable paths but the inconclusive ending is what really frustrated me. Well-performed but with largely unlikable characters… sure to spark discussion!

Pickpick

I started this the other day knowing that it was on my July #bookspin list, and here it ended up as my bookspin!

I‘m giving it a pick because it was a fun read with some decent suspenseful scenes, but I have sooo many unanswered questions that I‘m frustrated with it at the same time. 😆

Pickpick

A recent widow returning home to dark family secrets, a detective convinced she killed her husband, and some major family drama coming for both characters. I really liked this one, although it's an unusual thriller and it's not afraid to go extremely dark.

More catching up! Did some super early reading (like after Midnight) and some day reading and finally finished The Dead Husband and made significant process in my re-read of Dracul for book club (we met Sunday online).

Curled up in my Hocus Pocus blanket, trying to get some more #24b4Monday reading done before heading to a Haunted Forest tonight with the Hubs and my sis in law and niece. @Andrew65
