Flash Fire
Flash Fire: The Extraordinaries, Book Two | Tj Klune
14 posts | 15 read | 1 reading | 8 to read
Flash Fire is the explosive sequel to The Extraordinaries by USA Today bestselling author TJ Klune! Nick landed himself the superhero boyfriend of his dreams, but with new heroes arriving in Nova City its up to Nick and his friends to determine who is virtuous and who is villainous. Which is a lot to handle for a guy who just wants to finish his self-insert bakery AU fanfic. Praise for The Extraordinaries An Indie Bestseller! An Indie Next Pick! Uproariously funny, this razor-sharp book is half a love-letter to fandom, half self-aware satire, and wholly lovable. I haven't read anything quite like this before! Sophie Gonzales, author of Only Mostly Devastated The most down-to-earth book about superheroes Ive ever read. Mason Deaver, bestselling author of I Wish You All the Best

I love this series! While yes I guessed (almost) all of the twists as they came, I was still incredibly invested in the plot and the characters. 5🌟

A superhero's, not to mention a superhero's boyfriend's, work is never done. Secrets are revealed as Nick learns more about the world around him.

As in the 1st book some characters seem to be there just to tick certain boxes and to express views. These flaws are more obvious here while Nick's endearing traits are less in focus. However, the overall story is good with a post-credit twist that I can't wait to see explored in the last book.

Catching up on reviews. This was my last finished book in January, the 2nd in a YA trilogy about superheroes (The Extraordinaries). The four close friends are back, with Nick as the MC. Really enjoyed this one, will be reading the 3rd soon.

Nicky, YES! This book was crazy and a little disjointed, but not in a bad way. Things happened, secrets came to light, and new Extraordinaries are met. We see it all through the chaos of a (slightly horney) teen boy with ADHD. The gang's back, and the parents have more of a role. I am kinda here for this, too. And yes, it gets heavy due to Aaron's past decisions and the villains... But then there's Dead Magician suits and dental dams.

Whoa! Nicky is back with a BANG in this epic sequel! This adorable, hysterical, neurodiverse MC has totally stolen my heart & I cannot reiterate enough that Nicky was extraordinary WAY before he became an Extraordinary with a capital E! There is no one in the whole wide world as hilarious as him. Gloomy days were made a whole lot brighter with Nick. If I could have fictional friends, I'd totally fangirl until I became a part of Team Pyro Storm! 🦸

our fave hero fanfic writer & his superhero bf are BACK. (&their incredible lesbian besties) finishing this book was an awful way to find out this is actually a trilogy. THANK YOU TJ KLUNE THAT BOOK 3 DROPS SOON. This one felt more drawn out than the first but the characters are just as great. New heroes come into play & Nick discovers a secret about himself and his family that will change a lot. I‘m obsessed with Nick. this series is so fun.

I didn't enjoy this as the first book - it was still an enjoyable read but I don't think I'll carry on with the series

Nick is back and just as funny, whole hearted, brave and thoughtful as before. I don't typically love YA the way that I love this (teen perspective can be obnoxious 😅) I love the love that Klune is so expert at delivering. And the humor. I cannot wait for Heat Wave this summer with that unbelievable ending. I could read about this group of friends, family and community forever.

This series continues to be cute & fun. I love Klune's flippant & sarcastic style of writing. The plot moves smoothly & there is a lot of action. There is some awkwardness & weirdness, but that's just Nick. And I love him. He is unabashedly outspoken &, while he occasionally gives me anxiety, he's adorable. I love the dialogue & the friend group. Characters are where Klune really shines. Oh...and the ending was a bit of a stunner...& cliffhanger.

I loved this book. I laughed and I cried. Witty, hilarious, but still sweet.
