This audiobook was okay and had some good pointers for handling business situations and ways to shine. I can find some value in the tips within, but glad the audio was the older version of “62 tricks” instead of the newer “92”. As I‘ve seen in some other reviews, I would agree it is outdated/old fashioned.

Cosmos_Moon_River What irritated me about the book was how the author read constantly with an extreme level of enthusiasm and almost every sentence in was an alliterative mnemonic phrase, like “parties are for pratter”, “dinners are for dining” and “Charlie, chance encounters are for chitchat”. They seem forced and a bit juvenile. Some parts also sounded quite out of touch, like calling a social “screw up” a “boner”. (edited) 4w

Unsure about this. I liked it and I‘d love to give it a “Pick” – but: I feel there‘s just too much she‘s presuming. That you know how to gather information about others without attracting attention, that you can note things down so that nobody notices it – and one of my favorites: That you‘re standing at a party without something (drink, food) in your hands and that you act “openly”.

U-huh. You smarta**es.
Sometimes I hate that pedestrian world.

Same stuff repeated with different labels, parroting, mirroring, echoing n so on...

This book might be helpful for someone who doesn‘t have a lot of social skills. But I didn‘t learn anything and some of her tips I disagreed with and some tips I didn‘t think she explained well. At least it was a short audiobook.

Edit: I see on Goodreads that she‘s updated the book and it now has 92 tips. But 62 was enough for me.

Started a new audiobook for #nfNov.

So far the first dozen or so tips are all about body language, most of which isn‘t new, but she gives cutesy names. But one strategy I found intriguing is not to smile too quickly. #TIL employing a slower to smile strategy makes you appear more sincere and gives people more confidence in you.

4 pts for the post & 106 pts total by my calculation 😀

Also known as “how to be less socially awkward & actually talk to people without seeming like a complete weirdo.” Much needed.
