Unable to discard his humanity but equally unable to suppress his Ghoul hunger, Ken finds salvation in the kindness of friendly Ghouls who teach him how to pass as human and eat flesh humanely. But recent upheavals in Ghoul society attract the police like wolves to prey, and they dont discriminate between conscientious and ravenous Ghouls. -- VIZ Media

The suspense just keeps building! Kaneki is torn between two worlds and trying to figure out how to embrace his new life. I loved the way this one ended.

This series has more than horror and violence. There are themes of acceptance, found family, and social injustices.

This volume revolves around an auction that's taking place, the ghouls are auctioning off humans for consumption or using as slaves; one of the ghouls who is rounding them up is a girl called Nutcracker who has very unusual feeding habits - she consumes mainly men's testicles. *yep* 😂

Cool plot and interesting new characters.

Starting Vol. 3 tomorrow, I'm really liking this series!

Tokyo Ghoul is the first ever manga I‘ve read and I‘m loving them so far. The anime was so amazing, it‘s nice to start somewhere familiar!

Ken Kaneki is still trying to find balance between his human and ghoul halves. To complicate matters, Ghoul Investigators have arrived in the area and are killing ghouls indiscriminately. What will happen when the ghoul investigators get too close to home?

Although it was a slight dip in the story, I still enjoyed this volume! I like the characters, I like the pacing. My only true complaint is that the art is sometimes unclear; each ghoul‘s Kagune is very unnoticeable and that‘s a bit disappointing since in the anime they were so eerie and beautiful.

Still enjoyable and a fun and imaginative read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

ReadingOver50 Loved the show need to read the books 😄 7y
StellaDz @ReadingOver50 same! I am finding that, unlike other anime‘s I‘ve watched, a bit more was cut out of this manga. It‘s a little more fleshed out which is nice! 7y

Volume 2 still suffers from confusing and badly done action sequences, but adds an interesting element in the form of ghoul hunters. While I find the slow reveal of the ghoul world interesting, many of the characters are grating and dull.

I'm still really on the fence with this series. I'll give it one more volume to grab me, or to abandon it, whichever it may be.
