Rock Bottom Girl: A Small Town Romantic Comedy
Rock Bottom Girl: A Small Town Romantic Comedy | Lucy Score
Downsized, broke, and dumped, 38-year-old Marley sneaks home to her childhood bedroom in the town she couldn't wait to escape twenty years ago. Not much has changed in Culpepper. The cool kids are still cool. Now they just own car dealerships and live in McMansions next door. Oh, and the whole town is still talking about that Homecoming she ruined her senior year. Desperate for a new start, Marley accepts a temporary teaching position. Can the girl banned from all future Culpepper High Homecomings keep the losing-est girls soccer team in school history from killing each other and prevent carpal tunnel in a bunch of phone-clutching gym class students? Maybe with the help of Jake Weston, high school bad boy turned sexy good guy. When the school rumor mill sends Marley to the principal's office to sign an ethics contract, the tattooed track coach, dog dad, and teacher of the year becomes her new fake boyfriend and alibi--for a price. The Deal: He'll teach her how to coach if she teaches him how to be in a relationship. Who knew a fake boyfriend could deliver such real orgasms? But it's all temporary. The guy. The job. The team. There's too much history. Rock bottom can't turn into a foundation for happily ever after. Can it? Warning: Story also includes a meet-puke, a bouffanted nemesis, a yard swan and donkey basketball, a teenage-orchestrated makeover, and a fake relationship that gets a little too real between the sheets.

This was a nice change of pace after reading quite a few psychological thrillers and darker books in the spirit of Halloween. A sweet romantic comedy that reminded me of turning on a Hallmark movie and getting sucked into the story and rooting for a happy ending for the main characters. I def know how it feels to come from a small town and feeling judged by who you were at 17 every time you're back. This is a chunky book at 532 pgs but worth it!

How stinking cute was this?? Lucy Score's books have really grown on me. I used to think they were too long and slow of a burn, but dang if she doesn't do the slow burn WELL. And then when you DO get to the spice?! 🔥

Lucy Score knows how to write a slow burn romance with characters you'll want to take the journey with. I love small town romance and add the giggles and the relatable situations found between the pages you have a quick fun read. #LittensLoveRomance

Had this one on my shelf for a while so I figured I would give it a go. I think this is my 13th (?!) Lucy Score book and she can really do no wrong. The witty and funny banter of her books makes you breeze right through (even though it clocks in at over 500 pages).

I'm constantly reminded that books come to me at certain points in my life for a reason. I've always wanted to become a teacher but fear and insecurity has held me back for years. After reading Rock Bottom Girl, I'm convinced again that teaching is what I should be doing. Does anyone have any recommendations of similar books where the main character chose to become a teacher later in life? #needrecommendations #teacher #goals #dreams

TheBookgeekFrau I've also noticed this magic of books; I'm firmly convinced the universe speaks to us through books 😁 5y

Lynnsoprano I don‘t know of any other books, but I can tell you, as someone who became a teacher in her 40s, that it was one of the best decisions I ever made. 5y
I_Like_Big_Books @Lynnsoprano That‘s exactly what I needed to hear! 💞 Thank you! (edited) 5y

I loved the #slowburn in this one. It reminded me of Mariana Zapata‘s books (whom I love). I think I may have found another author to follow. #romance #secondchance #romantsy #bookboyfriend
