The 22 Murders Of Madison May
The 22 Murders Of Madison May | Max Barry
12 posts | 14 read | 2 reading | 8 to read
From the critically acclaimed author of Jennifer Government and Lexicon comes mind-bending speculative psychological suspense about a serial killer pursuing his victim across time and space, and the woman who is determined to stop him, even if it upends her own reality. "I love you. In every world." Young real estate agent Madison May is shocked when a client at an open house says these words to her. The man, a stranger, seems to know far too much about her, and professes his love - shortly before he murders her. Felicity Staples hates reporting on murders. As a journalist for a mid-size New York City paper, she knows she must take on the assignment to research Madison May's shocking murder, but the crime seems random and the suspect is in the wind. That is, until Felicity spots the killer on the subway, right before he vanishes. Soon, Felicity senses her entire universe has shifted. No one remembers Madison May, or Felicity's encounter with the mysterious man. And her cat is missing. Felicity realizes that in her pursuit of Madison's killer, she followed him into a different dimension - one where everything about her existence is slightly altered. At first, she is determined to return to the reality she knows, but when Madison May - in this world, a struggling actress - is murdered again, Felicity decides she must find the killer - and learns that she is not the only one hunting him. Traveling through different realities, Felicity uncovers the opportunity - and danger - of living more than one life.

4.5🌟 This was an excellent story with perfect pacing and a few twists and turns that were surprising. I'm a huge fan of Blake Crouch's Dark Matter and Recursion, and this felt similar in style. Like that, with a blend of Criminal Minds.

The writing fell a little flat for me in this one, but loved the idea of the story. Jumping to "parallel worlds" and not being able to return made me feel a bit claustrophobic but was happy how things worked out for the characters.

A murderer, a reporter, an actress and a guardian angel travel through time, meeting each other in different worlds. Lots of hype about this book, and I liked the story, but I felt like the characters were one-dimensional. You might see this one on tv sometime!

🌟🌟🌟🌟1/2 (scrappymags.com for full review). 🤯!!! I am not a big Sci-Fi reader but I‘m starting to vastly appreciate this genre of Sci-Fi Mystery. 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯 is inventive, intelligent, and ingenious - a fast ride that had me gripping the book handlebars from first page to last. Truly a mind-bender, blower, exploder. Summary: Madison May has this tiny little problem; she keeps getting murdered across different worlds by the same man…

A serial killer who‘s travelling through the multiverse to kill all the versions of Madison May who are not the perfect Hollywood actress he fell in love with. Reporter Felicity is pushed into the parallel universes herself, and is now trying to prevent another murder from happening.

ScrappyMags I LOVED this one. I thought it was creative and I read it so fast. I‘m not a frequent reader of Sci fi though but the sci-fi mysteries are growing on me. 3y

Late breakfast of overnight oats.

Hazel2019 I still haven‘t tried overnight oats! Are they good? And do you eat them cold? 3y
julesG @Hazel2019 This bowl contained 4 tablespoons of oats, 1 tablespoon of roasted hazelnuts (chopped), 1 tablespoon of linseeds, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and chocolate soy milk - enough to cover the mix. It sat in the fridge overnight. I took it out of the fridge and ate it cold - about 20min after taking it out. But I could have heated it up - which means, I'd microwave it for about a minute at 600 Watts. 3y
Hazel2019 This sounds both healthy and delish 😊 I‘ll try your recipe! 3y
julesG @Hazel2019 It's about 2min of preparation and a healthy breakfast the next day. My kids love it, too. 3y
