All You Need is Love and a Strong Electric Current
All You Need is Love and a Strong Electric Current | MacKenzie Kiera
3 posts | 1 read | 5 to read
Can you keep a secret? Sadie has a fetish. She likes it cold. The only man who has understood and loved her for this perversion is her ambulance partner and boyfriend: Michael. So, when Michael unexpectedly gets run over by a snowplow, Sadie will stop at nothing to keep him alive, to keep bringing him back from the dead again and again for one thing and one thing only. But when Michael begins to deteriorate, when things that were once hard become loose and floppy, Sadie finds herself taking lives instead of saving them. In an effort to keep Michael's organs pumping, Sadie has to go against her paramedic training and human instincts and kill instead of rescue. But she's doing it in the name of love, so it's okay. Right? Totally. When does love turn to obsession? How far will Sadie go for the one she loves?"Cold on the outside, burning with love at the center, this debut from Mackenzie Kiera is as good a time as it's possible to have on the page, with dead people. With sexy dead people." - Stephen Graham Jones, author of THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS"Mackenzie Kiera's electrifying debut novella is laugh-out-loud funny, over-the-top gory, totally insane, and just what the doctor ordered to chill you for the summer and leave you begging for more." - Bob Pastorella, co-host of THIS IS HORROR. "Sadie Snow is the twisted lovechild of Patrick Bateman and Victor Frankenstein but sexier. Mackenzie Kiera's All You Need is Love and a Strong Electric Current does not hold back. It's sexy, extreme, unflinching, in your face, and hilarious. This will in equal-parts turn people's stomachs and excite their Lady Elizabeths and King Henrys. So, go ahead. Read. Mackenzie Kiera will show you a good time and then she'll make you bleed." - Michael David Wilson, author of THE GIRL IN THE VIDEO and founder of THIS IS HORROR

Pickpick

This was a strange feminist and kinky take on Frankenstein. Sadie Snow has a fetish that requires things to be very cold and freezing for her to enjoy sex. She‘s a paramedic and finds the love of her life in her EMT coworker, Michael. As soon as they‘re set on each other for life, that very instant, he gets run over by a snowplow. The rest is this funny, snarky, heavy pop song referenced tale of what you do for love while also becoming psychotic.

Twainy Kinky take on Frankenstein? Well. Now I have to go look for the book. 3y
Reggie @Twainy Not gonna lie, Sadie got on my nerves. But she did make me laugh and really, who amongst us is perfect? Lol, it was a pick. I hope you like it. 3y
CarolynM "Requires things to be very cold and freezing to enjoy sex"?!? I'm shivering at the thought, and not in a good way!??? 3y

Chrissyreadit This review was lol- the cover alone let me know the review would be fun. 3y
Suet624 Wow! There's a lot in this review! 3y
CoverToCoverGirl Interesting cover art... as always a great review! 😂 3y
Reggie @Suet624 and I had to cherry pick just to make sure the good stuff got in it.😊 3y
Reggie @Chrissyreadit The book itself was a lot of fun. It was more comedy than anything. 3y
Reggie @CarolynM Lololol if you ever have another Foal‘s Bread I would suggest reading this to palate cleanse the sadness away. It was very funny. 3y
Centique Sadie sounds like one hell of a character. PS don‘t know if you remember recommending I get the book You for my friend who loves books with dark secrets. She finally read it and LOVED it. Excellent work Reggie! 🙌🙌What do you reckon I get her next? 3y
Rissreads Lol! Where do you get these books from? 🤣🤣🤣 3y
Rissreads Would these books be like adult versions of the old Goosebumps books? My son (19yrs) loved reading them when he was younger but doesn‘t read now. But he always talks about how he loved those books. Maybe these would get him reading again? It‘s worth a try 3y
Reggie @Centique maybe Made for Love by Alissa Nutting. They‘re making a series on HBO of it and also it‘s really out there but in the age of technology seems like it might be more relevant than we think. It‘s dark, hip, and everyone is kinda messed up. 3y
Reggie @Rissreads I don‘t know if this might help but if you have kindle unlimited they‘re all on there. If not just buy him a couple. But yes, you could definitely say these are grown up versions of Goosebumps. With the exception of a couple they‘re mostly all winners. 3y
Centique @Reggie that sounds perfect thank you! 3y

Lauram I‘m pretty sure I work with this character. She‘s right, but she‘s also exhausting. 3y
Chrissyreadit Yes. The truth is out there. 3y
NikkiM5 🙌🏾 truth 3y
Suet624 absolutely true. also, when I had twins I thought I should have a lengthier maternity leave because I had two. They didn't buy it. 3y
CoverToCoverGirl Truth! Love this. Do you think I could read this @reggie or is it to gruesome/scary for this scaredy-cat? Very intrigued by your review and this post. 3y
Reggie @CoverToCoverGirl Truthfully, I do think you could make it through this. For me it was more comedic than anything else. Yes, it does get gruesome but you‘re rooting for her the whole way through. I was at least. 3y
CoverToCoverGirl @Reggie alrighty then. I‘ll hunt this one down. I can skip over the gruesome parts. Stay tuned for my future review. Imagine me reading one of your scary books... #BlameItOnLitsy for sure..lol 3y
Reggie @CoverToCoverGirl Well, I wish you luck!!! It‘s not scary really.☘️ 3y
Reggie @Lauram Lol, I‘m sorry. I haven‘t worked with that character in a while. I have “vaccines are made from aborted fetuses mixed in with nanobots to help the government keep track of us.” That actually came from a coworker‘s mouth this week. Different hells, I guess, lol, but there always has to be one. 3y
Reggie @Suet624 the patriarchy!!!! (Shakes fists) 3y
Bookzombie This is accurate. Also, OMG about your coworker. 😳 That is definitely a circle of hell. 3y
Reggie @Bookzombie when she said it all I could think was what effing QAnon chapter does she belong to? We‘re a dept. of 11 and 4 don‘t want the vaccine. They think the virus is a hoax. Anyways🙄 3y
Bookzombie @Reggie That‘s crazy! I‘m so glad that you have been able to get vaccinated though. 3y
Centique @Reggie I went off at a friend this week for sending me an email from a group trying to prove its illegal for the govt to roll out the vaccine. I think they‘re on the nanobots plus four horsemen of the Apocalypse train of thought. Anyway I don‘t think we‘re speaking anymore. 😬 But you know she was pushing it on me twice a week so even non confrontational me eventually exploded. 😂 I think I need a margarita! (Or a caprioska, have you had one?) 3y
Reggie @Centique it‘s hard to watch people you know come out with such nonsense. When my coworker said that another coworker of mine and myself tried to tell her how a vaccine works. My parents have lost something like 10 friends from back home due to COVID. One of them was my mom‘s college roommate who not even 5 months ago was this Trump supporter on Facebook talking about how the virus was fake. And now she‘s dead. My mom was so shocked that her 👇🏼 3y
Reggie friend was Republican to begin with and now she‘s just sad that she‘s dead. It‘s hard for her to put together the person she knew with the Facebook person. 3y
Reggie And no I have not had a caprioska but it sounds like a mojito with vodka instead of rum. And I‘m sorry that happened to you with your friend. I have never once thought of you as confrontational. 3y
Centique @Reggie oh your poor parents - so many friends lost! It‘s horrific. 😢 Yes, I haven‘t argued properly with anyone for years. It‘s weird but hopefully a lot of her old friends will refuse to countenance the propaganda she‘s sent out and I hope it makes her stop and rethink. 🤞🤞 3y

I‘m not a drinker at all. My last alcoholic drink was the year before the pandemic. But work, and people have pushed me here. Lol. I‘m that cool guy in the back with his margarita starting the #14 novella in the Rewind or Die series. Btw, aren‘t these 3 pages before the story starts entertaining? Have a good night Littens. 🍹

batsy That looks like a very good way to end the day 🍹📙 3y
JennyM Night, Reggie 😘 3y

Tera66 That looks delicious! I miss happy hour! 3y
Bookzombie And now I‘m singing that song. I‘m excited to your review for this one. 🙂 3y
Reggie @batsy I have always had high tolerance for alcohol but maybe it‘s the fact I‘ve gone vegan or that the day was really hard but after my first one my eyes were half lidded. It was a good end to the day and a great start to my weekend😊 3y
Reggie @JennyM thanks, Jenny.❤️I slept like a baby that night. 3y
Reggie @Tera66 it was delicious! Me too. I just miss not having to have a mask on. Twice when I had just put my drink down, our security was right there to tell me to put it back up. Geez. 3y
Reggie @Bookzombie I think you‘d like this one. She was funny and annoying and full of Disney and pop song references. It was fun. 3y
Bookzombie @Reggie I think you are probably right. 🙂 3y
Tera66 @Reggie The one thing that my friends all agree about this pandemic is that we will never take spending time together, hugs or seeing each others smiles for granted again. It will be so nice to just have a cocktail with friends without masks. 3y
