The Off Limits Rule
The Off Limits Rule: A Romantic Comedy | Sarah Adams
7 posts | 12 read | 6 to read
I have found rock bottom. It's here, moving in with my older brother because I'm too broke to afford to live on my own. It's okay though, because we've always been close and I think I'm going to have fun living with him again. That is until I meet Cooper...Turns out, my brother has very strong opinions on the idea of me dating his best friend and is dead set against it. According to him, Cooper is everything I should stay away from: flirtatious, adventurous, non-committal, and freaking hot. (I added that last part because I feel like you need the whole picture.) My brother is right-I should stay away from Cooper James and his pretty blue eyes. He's the opposite of what I need right now.Nah-who am I kidding? I'm going for it.The Off Limits Rule is a closed door romance, perfect for readers who love lots of sizzle but no explicit content.

No, just no. I read another Sarah Adams book & it was cute, so I thought I‘d give this one a try. The synopsis sounded fun. The reality was cringy. The MC is 29 & a single mom. Her son is only 4, so that means she was 25 when she had him. And yet, she seems more like 18, & at times, she seemed like she was 14. This wasn‘t helped by the narrator, who sounded like at oldest she was 18, but really sounded like she was 14—whiney and annoying.

wanderinglynn Since Drew is her older brother, that means at youngest, he‘s 30-31. Probably closer to mid-30s since he‘s an obstetrician. And yet he also acts like he‘s 20, maybe 18, protecting his 14/16 year old sister. Same with the love interest Cooper. He even mentions at one point that he feels like he‘s in junior high. I feel the same about you, Coop, absolutely the same.

Overall, this is a hard pass. DFN‘d at 20%.

I loved this book, it's another romantic comedy. I related to the protagonist, from the frumpy swimsuit to the unshaven 🪒 legs 🦵. Meh, it happens 🤷🏽‍♀️

This was a cute audio about a single mom moving back to her hometown to be close to her family with her 4 year old son. She meets her brother's best friend and sparks fly. But her brother does not want those two together. This was a funny and quick story.

Mehso-so

Started out loving this story about a woman who moves in with her brother and falls for his best friend, but it started getting a little dull for me about 50% through. It was too much of an instant love-at-first-sight connection, which made the dragging out of the romance so unnecessary and irritating at times. I was getting tired of the “does he feel the same way/no he can‘t possibly because he‘s too out of my league” line over and over

I listened to this one today at work, a quick easy funny lovey book and was well narrated and put my crazy brain in awe mode. I‘ll be very happy when Hoopla gets book 2!
