⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one caught my interest at page one, and kept my mind racing with possible scenarios, but ultimately I found the resolution to be a bit unsatisfying.

This is a 2.5/5 for me. A pretty good thriller, but I felt it dragged a lot. The beginning and end were exciting enough to keep me reading but it wasn‘t my favourite. Huge huge huge amount of gaslighting from the male characters. I also didn‘t like the portrayal of mental health issues. The MC is clearly struggling with PTSD but instead of her family supporting her they gaslit her and and accused her of “losing it.”

Current read: interesting so far… hard to tell exactly what‘s going on and who is reliable. HUGE amount of gaslighting happening. Anyone read this one? I‘m enjoying it but I‘ve been reading it slower than I typically read. #mystery #thriller #domesticthriller

Domestic Suspense Thriller
Gaslighting/drug trope
The characters were kind of meh…the reasons for their behavior didn‘t really feel believable, and the ending was uninspiring. Essentially, I wasn‘t really feeling this….but on the other hand, it wasn‘t a complete waste of time, either. I did come away from it with a better understanding of what the term gaslighting means. So there‘s that.

Is the brother-in-law a serial killer? Can‘t believe I read to the end of this book about a bunch of really uninteresting people.

This was so good. Kept me wanting to know what happens next throughout the whole book!

A shooting occurs, a friend goes missing and everyone just pretends nothing happened. Elisa is not sure why everything around her seems to be crumbling and why no one is suspicious of her brother-in-law. Her husband continues to believe she's losing it while her brother is a saint. How will she get through this and what happened to her friend?

This one is not as good as A Pretty Little Wife. The gaslighting & negative focus on mental illness which always rubs me wrong Elisa is a wife & mother who experiences a traumatic event that coincides with the disappearance of her friend, Abby, who is engaged to her brother-in-law Josh. Elisa suspects that Josh made Abby disappear. The introduction of his new girlfriend, Rachel, brings new urgency to finding out just what happened to Abby 3.5⭐

Zora loves the new couch! She and I spent all weekend snuggled up in our corners, napping and finishing The Replacement Wife. It was an entertaining read, though the ending wasn‘t as satisfying as the build up. It was a page-turner nonetheless, and fans of The Woman in the Window will most likely get through this one quickly.

Thanks for @HarperCollins for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Wow, can this author write! I like this one even better than her first one and that‘s saying a lot because “Pretty Little Wife” is a top shelf thriller. I practically inhaled this book; I read it in two days. Darby Kane is so great with pacing and building suspense that it‘s always “just one more chapter” with her. I totally blame her for my lack of sleep last weekend lol. I‘m already biding my time for Kane‘s next one!

Eliza is convinced her brother-in-law is a killer. But no one believes her.

This thriller/suspense novel did not disappoint. I liked the characters, and the book held my interest all the way through. The pacing of reveals was perfect. This book was really hard to put down.

They keep popping up and disappearing.
