Fake Mustache
Fake Mustache: Or, How Jodie O'Rodeo and Her Wonder Horse (and Some Nerdy Kid) Saved the U.S. Presidential Election from a Mad Genius Criminal Mastermind | Tom Angleberger
8 posts | 5 read | 5 to read
Award-winning author Tom Angleberger flexes his comic muscle in this hairy adventure story with twists at every turn. Regular kid Lenny Flem Jr. is the only one standing between his evil-genius best friendCasper, a master of disguise and hypnosisand world domination. It all begins when Casper spends money from his granny on a spectacularly convincing fake mustache, the Heidelberg Handlebar #7. With it hes able rob banks, amass a vast fortune, and run for president. Is Lenny the only one who can see through his disguise? And will he be able to stop Casper from taking over the world? Praise for Fake Mustache Theres no twist too goofy or absurd as Angleberger pulls out all the stops for this unabashedly silly story.Publishers Weekly "Anglebergers foot-on-the-floor zaniness helps pull it off, fueled by a steady stream of gags and utter ridiculousness that make Saturday-morning cartoons seem reasonable in comparison. Pure, unfiltered hilarity." Booklist "The 2012 campaign season just got a little hairier. Kids will delight in the various ways in which Casper exploits his power over grownups." The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books "Appropriately goofy." The Horn Book "Angleberger severs all ties with sanity in his latest farce for preteens with hilarious results. There's plenty of action and goofiness. Fans of Angleberger's previous efforts won't be disappointed. Total deadpan lunacy." Kirkus Reviews "This is a cute, although improbable, story about two best friends, Lenny and Casper, who live in the small town of Hairsprinkle.. Jodie brings many positive traits of a strong, female hero." Library Media Connection

Finished my first book for #MiddleGradeMarch or #MGMarch! It was HILARIOUS! With a town named Hairsprinkle, a hero named Lenny Jr. and a heroine named JodeoRodeo, how can it not be? And I can‘t forget Jody‘s horse, Soymilk! The narrator was great. It‘s about a magic mustache that hypnotizes people. Lenny Jr.‘s bf Casper buys the mustache and sets off to take over the world. #100YEARS100BOOKS #BookSpinBingo #BFC21 #BOOKED2021 #MGMarch

Library patron: "What if my mustache was as big as the Vatican?"

I don't even know. #publiclibrarian

Our latest Andermatch Blind Book pick. We love the surprises!

Confession: I sometimes check the ISBN if the description makes me think of a particular book. Our home library is pretty big, I don't want duplicates.

#QuirkyMonday Topic: The Mustache. And yes, mustache books do exist. 😋 My faves include: (1) Mustache Baby (and its sequel) by Bridget Heos, (2) The Mustache Growers Guide by Lucien Edwards, (3) Mustache! by Mac Barnett, & (4) Mustache Shenanigans by Jay Chandrasekhar. Plus, for the Mustache in all avid book lovers, try the Book Mustache from odditymall.com. 😉 So, what's your favorite quirky find? #EmbraceTheQuirk #Monday #MustachesRule

The ultimate fake mustache. Brainwashed school librarians robbing banks. Man-about-town-suits. Public transport costing 10 cents. Electoral fraud. Famous teenage cowgirl/TV star who literally rides in to the rescue. Halloween costumes. Horses. This book has it all. And I enjoyed it rather a lot 😂

HiddenGemBooks Isn't it the best laid back read? I love the childish humor 😂❤️ 8y

Decided to start this in the hopes of achieving an early night (nope!) so I put aside the Blacklist and Behind the Throne for something light... It's quirky good fun! But now off to the land of nod (or I'll be at risk of sleeping right through all my alarms)

@cookiejanester inspired me to give this one a try (so far so good)

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @cookiejanester - can't get tagging to work properly 😕 8y

If you wanna read something silly, this is 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟5/5 best pick. Was a refresher when I was reading assigned books for school. Quick, easy, funny read 😊

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I've ordered it from the book depository - sounds like a book that I need in my life :) 8y
