The book pictured, which I'm reviewing, is actually a short novella, and a prequel to the tagged book. I scored this for free (thanks for the heads-up, @rubyslippersreads !), and it was a very cute little adaptation. We see movie star Emma Woods make a match for her hairstylist Annie Taylor and we meet Emma's friend and collaborator Jaxson Knightley. Other Austen-inspired characters make cameos, which nicely sets up Blume's entire series. 👇👇👇
Andrea313 It's not my usual type of thing, but I think the short length encouraged me, plus the author is clearly a a musical theatre fan. But here's where my review turns into a tangent: I had to crack up at a plot point involving a new musical based on the American Civil War; I think the author must have missed the Frank Wildhorn catastrophe called The Civil War, and if you missed it, too, please go watch the show's performance at the '99 Tonys. 👇 3y
Andrea313 Come to laugh at the flag-waving and slo-mo battle choreo; stay for a post-RENT Gilles Chaisson and Keith Byron Kirk, who deserved way better roles, way more noteriety, and all the awards, and who is LIVING as Frederick Douglass in this performance: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8Rmgs9OUiyw #PemberLittens 3y
