pickThis graphic novel reminded me of early seasons of ‘Riverdale‘ — noir-esque but centered around two “outcast” kids, solving “mysteries” together. This volume sets up a larger mystery to come. The art is phenomenal and I love that the central character is a nuanced, darkly-written girl (Friday, ha). Graphic novels aren‘t usually my speed, but I like the elevated dark tone of this.
pickA "post-YA" story about teen detectives that start growing up and feeling with complex emotions and situations. Brubaker writes crime and mystery like no other, and I love the style of Martin's art.
