Welp. I don‘t want to read any of the books I own. Not one of them. This is how I end up with so many books. I‘ve been so good this year and have only acquired three ebooks - and one was part of a series I‘m reading. Sigh......

I seem to be having one of those runs of middling books, or I'm in one of those moods where I'm dissatisfied with everything I read. I may have to read the next #ookbookclub book, even if I am early and it is a Rincewind story #readerproblems
Marjane Satrapi authored a retelling of an Iranian fairy tale with a beautiful cover? I was sold. I am honestly really disappointed. The translation was a bit weak. It included fairy tale tropes I am less than fond of (love at first sight), and featured some weird plot points that were not ideal (selling yourself into slavery as punishment will solve your problems apparently!). It did feature some really fun weirdness that made it worth my time.
An oddly lovely fable. Felt familiar, yet not. Felt traditional, yet not. Surprising, succinct, sweet.
And a physically beautiful book inside and out.

I found this treasure at my favorite local bookstore yesterday. It's a sweet little fable.
