This is a real slow burn and takes a while to get into the story but it was interesting to see how it would turn out. It's told from Saffy and her mother in present day then dots back to the past with Rose. The plot was filled with some clever twists leading to an interesting if slightly sad ending. It was how the book should end though. A thriller filled with twists and Lies. 3*

I listened to this one (my first Claire Douglas) on my BorrowBox library app and it‘s well presented. However I couldn‘t empathise with any of the characters and the possible identities of the dead bodies was both confusing and inevitable at the same time. The twist to me was obvious after the first few chapters so when it came I was Duh!! It‘s ok not great. Not sure I‘ll read/listen to any more from this author.

A very twisty turny tale. Though I figured out a few of the plot lines, I still enjoyed the book. The characters were complex and sometimes annoying, but in that way that humans can be, and at times, they could be so relatable.

I didn‘t enjoy this domestic thriller at all, I couldn‘t get invested and I didn‘t feel any connection to the characters. Maybe I‘m in a slump but this certainly didn‘t pull me out of it.

Book 15

I listened to The Couple at Number 9 by Claire Douglas. A young woman inherits her grandmother's cabin and, when adding an extension, discovers bodies buried in the yard. The relationships between characters were authentic, but the set-up of the overall plot was better than the execution. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Second half got moving, but it was a bit slow at first. I knew how it was going to end, but I didn't nail every detail. Still some twists and turns. It was fun overall!

This was a really great thriller, gripping and twisty. Two bodies are found in the garden belonging to Saffy and Tom. The house belonged to Saffy's grandmother, is she involved somehow. Lots of secrets are about to come out.

This was a fun one! Full of twists and surprises!

Ooh, this was a good one! A well paced, multiple POV mystery, and one twist that actually shocked me. A lot of layers, but I enjoyed watching the story unfold. 4.5⭐️

Overly complicated and long winded story where not much happens. The introduction of so many names was tedious, particularly as they didn‘t add any depth to the story. By the time I finally started getting some answers, I was past the point of caring. The writing was cliched and cringy at times. So-so.

Enjoyed this book very much. It had a lot of twists throughout. A major mystery was solved around the 65% point of the book but the rest of the story unveiled more depth and a couple plot twists. Thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy to read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Entertaining thriller that worked really well on audio.

When a young couple uncovers bones during a remodel it forces Saffy to journey back into her family's past to find the truth. This read is fast paced with lots of twists and plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing.

Imagine you move into your dream home, baby on the way, you start to renovate to expand for your growing family, everything is perfect, until… you discover two bodies buried in your garden… and the last person to own your house? Your grandmother!

This book is a wild ride with twists and turns you will not expect! If I could give this book a million stars I would, I truly loved it! Highly recommend for anyone who loves a good thriller!

This was an entertaining and easy read. Will I remember the plot a year from now? Probably not, but it was a fun way to spend a few hours. It dealt with family secrets, women in hiding, relationships and Alzheimer's and there was a pretty good twist that I did not see coming. This is my second read by this author and I look forward to more from her. I gave it 3.75/5.

Such a good read and a perfect photo match

Saffy and Tom have just moved into their cottage that was once owned by Saffy‘s grandma. During garden work, two bodies are discovered. Police work to investigate the bodies which are over thirty years old. The police need to speak to Saffy‘s grandma who is in a care home with dementia. What happened 30 years ago?
This was a complex plot with multiple POVs but I totally intrigued!!! So many twists but the characterisation was spot on. A good read!
