Gabriel Allon must travel the world to track down a painting worth killing for in this #1 "New York Times" bestseller. Having retreated to the windswept cliffs of Cornwall with his beautiful wife, Gabriel Allon's seclusion is interrupted by an eccentric London art dealer with a problem. An art restorer has been brutally murdered and a portrait by Rembrandt stolen and only Gabriel can find it. But as he pursues the masterpiece across the globe, Gabriel discovers there are deadly secrets connected to the painting and even deadlier men who will do anything to keep them."

This one was a little departure from recent books in the series as Gabriel is tempted out of retirement to trace a recently stolen Rembrandt painting which last was known to have disappeared during the Second World War. Some interesting connections here especially to the Second World War and Nazi‘s then hiding in South America. Also has good connections to more recent events for Israel‘s enemies. As usual with this series a great read.

Have moved onto book 10 of the excellent Gabriel Allon series.

Gabriel has left the Israeli Secret Service following a harrowing mission that has left both him and his wife in the midst of Trauma. He heads back over to England but then a death of an art restorer draws him into investigating the murder and trying to track down the missing Rembrandt. #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView

Despite the bookmark, this book doesn‘t suck. For some reason, mysteries & thrillers are comfort reads , maybe cuz mostly, the good guys win? Silva consistently delivers, spies, intrigue, art & history in his titles, hoping I get to the next one soon .

Ahhhhhhh! My binge of the Gabriel Allon books backlist is complete. And, oh so satisfying.

This one is complete with an art heist element. Now the long wait for another installment.

Daughter stayed at college this weekend, BF's home sick, nothing else to do this weekend except read, eat pizza and drink wine! Whoo hoo! So this was the first book I started and finished this weekend. Another great installment of Gabriel Allon. Ending was just a bit anti-climactic compared to his other books. But overall a reliable good pick.
