A bighearted novel about motherhood, friendship, moving on, and love of all kinds.Ever since Beth Bailey was a girl, she's been in love with her best friend's older brother, Mark. She's continued to hold out hope that maybe, someday, he'll love her back. But now Beth is thirty-five years old, and on the day of Mark's wedding to another woman, she finally accepts the wake-up call she needs to move on.Beth's dream of marrying her first love may be over, but her other biggest desire is still within reach: becoming a mother. Having lost her own parents very young, there's nothing Beth wants more in life, and nothing she'll stop at to make her wish come true.Over the course of five years, and with unexpected twists along the way, Beth will come to startling realisations about family, friendship, the meaning of love, and most importantly, herself on the winding path to happiness and, she hopes, to motherhood.

This was a book I had started and put away during a reading a reading slump. I picked this up yesterday and read it in one sitting. I liked the underlying soulmate themes being like puzzle pieces that nobody else can quite fit. I like how the author jumps in time from winter to winter without losing readers.

BethM Oooh how long do you get to read? I miss having vacation I could use at this time of year. 12mo
Avanders @BethM I had to take off nearly 3 weeks!! 😯😯 Not that that‘s all reading time and I haven‘t made *much* progress yet 😬 But I agree — a vacation when you get to actually read? Sounds bliss 😌🥰 12mo

I‘m pretty sure this was a Kindle first read (free to me) book and it was just ok for me. Lots of word search points so not a total loss. ❄️😂❄️ WinterGames 26 pts

This was okay, but a bit more predictable and syrupy sweet than I was in the mood for right now. Good to get another unread book off my Kindle at any rate.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

I was worried about ending my Christmas binge with this one, because the 1st 2 winters were so melancholy. However, the ending was very satisfying. Beth‘s life story and her learning about herself and her own desires are revealed to us through the Christmas season for 5 years in a row. Some humor, heartbreak and romance.
