I've really enjoyed every book by this author that I've read. Olive Martin killed her mother and sister and chopped them up. She never denied it. Rosiland is an author who has one last chance to turn in a book before shes dumped by her publisher. Her agent suggests revisiting this crime and this plot unfolds from there. Recommend

Although I haven't seen the TV adaptation of this book, I can't imagine a better actress (Pauline Quirke) for the role of Olive Martin in today's #adventrecommends book. @emilyrose_x

scowler1 I haven't read the book but Pauline was amazing in this. 6y
JaneyWaneyB I agree with @scowler1 Pauline Quirk was chillingly brilliant in the TV series 6y
Andrew65 I own this and need to read it. 6y

Olive Martin confessed to the grisly murders of her mother and sister years ago. Roz has been bullied by her publisher into writing a story about her. When she visits Olive in prison, she finds she likes her. Once Roz begins to investigate she realizes that no real effort was made to investigate once Olive confessed, nor was the lawyer any help. But Olive has made a habit of lying, and Roz will try to sort fact from assumption.

I had read this one a long time ago and had forgotten how many references to the Lizzie Borden murders there were. @Liberty have you read it?

Liberty I have! I read her first five books, and then somehow drifted away from her. But I quite enjoyed them, especially this one. 😊 8y
