A low-stakes novel about a woman who falls into working for a toxic influencer. Based on the author‘s real-life experiences. I had a couple issues with the plot and pacing, but mostly thought it was pretty enjoyable.

Any easy read and for some reason I stuck with it even though it was totally predictable and pretty lame.
An easy read that really leans into all of the influencer/self-help/self-care tropes - full of fun drama.
Can we just stop with the books about 20somes with toxic bosses in fashion or influencing? These characters, which are uninteresting caricatures, put this from satire to ridiculous pretty quickly. We‘ve had Miranda Priestly. If you can‘t do better than her, I‘m going to bail. I stuck around a bit because this is set in Nashville, but I realized pretty quickly that the author had only been there for a bachelorette party. 👎🏻👎🏻
#libraryhaul and first frost of the Fall!
I went to pick up my holds, Under the Influence and Run Time, and went upstairs to pick up the Rash from the backlist shelves and three more books just leapt into my library bag…funny how that seems to happen…🤔🤣🤣
Thanks @jlhammar for the Rash rec!
Dad starts treatment for bladder cancer today, so I was glad to take a moment for myself yesterday. We caught it early! 🙏🏻
I did not drink the Kool-Aid. Would you? Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#under-the-influence
Made it home and I‘m 16 chapters in and y‘all, this book is wiiiiiild. I find the influencer world fascinating in a “it‘s a train wreck but I can‘t look away” kind of way and this is really scratching my itch. Time to keep tearing through it while my roommates watch F1 in the background.
The #girlboss book ended up being my pick for the train! Ready for some juicy stuff.
