"When one of her readers asks for advice following a suspected murder, Victorian countess Amelia Amesbury, who secretly pens the popular Lady Agony column, has no choice but to investigate in this first book in a charming new historical mystery series. Amelia Amesbury-widow, mother, and countess-has a secret. Amelia writes for a London penny paper, doling out advice on fashion, relationships, and manners under the pen name Lady Agony. But when a lady's maid writes Amelia to ask for advice when she believes her mistress has been murdered-and then ends up a victim herself-Amelia is determined to solve the case. With the help of her best friend and a handsome marquis, Amelia begins to piece together the puzzle, but as each new thread of inquiry ends with a different suspect, the investigation grows ever more daunting. From London's docks and ballrooms to grand country houses, Amelia tracks a killer, putting her reputation-and her life-on the line"--

This was such a cozy read. I enjoyed the author‘s discussion of periodical archives at the end, too. The mystery was relatively straightforward but plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing.

Picture of me resting after chopping logs for the fire at my friend‘s NYE party. Happy New Year! 🎆

This was fun, light, fluffy. A good historical mystery that's not at all demanding with a dash of romance and feminism. I did like the "agony aunt" aspect to the story, though perhaps it does reveal that this is more of a pastiche with modern sensibilities. It reminded me a bit of Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey series, which I also enjoyed. I read this for the cozy mystery prompt for #CloakAndDaggerChristmas @Ruthiella

This is the first book in a cozy Victorian mystery series. I liked that each chapter began with a question to and answer from Lady Agony. I also liked the hint of romance brewing and the MC‘s aunt-in-law. Overall, I enjoyed it, but there were moments that either I wandered (totally possible) or the story did. #SeriesLove2023

Yes, my dad was back in the hospital for a couple days. This book kept me company. I loved how fun it was...whilst being peppered with great characters and mystery. This is the first book in this new series. If you like cozy mystery reads you'll want to add this to your list!

Murder in Postscript is an excellent debut for this series. This book checked all my boxes for a fine historical cozy mystery. It truly was A Perfect Escape!
