In this queer retelling of the classic novel and third book in Tirzah Price's Jane Austen Murder Mystery series, Mansfield Park is the center of a deadly accident (or is it?). Perfect for fans of the Lady Janies and Stalking Jack the Ripper. Aspiring artist Fanny Price is an unwelcome guest at her uncle Sir Thomas Bertrams estate. Its his affection for Fanny thats keeping her from being forced out by her cousins Tom and Maria and nasty Aunt Norris, back to a home to which she never wants to return. But then Sir Thomas dies in a tragic accident inside his art emporium, and Fanny finds evidence of foul play that, if revealed, could further jeopardize her already precarious position. Edmund, her best friend and secret crush, urges Fanny to keep quiet about her discovery, but Fanny cant ignore the truth: a murderer is among them. Determined to find the killer, Fannys pursuit for justice has her wading into the Bertram family business, uncovering blackmail, and brushing with Londons high society when Henry and Mary Crawford arrive at Mansfield Park with an audacious business proposal. But a surprising twist of fateand the help of local legends Lizzie Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcybrings Fanny more complications than she ever expected and a life-altering realization about herself she never saw coming. Pride and Premeditation is a romantic and entertaining page-turner, sure to delight readers of any genre. Kerri Maniscalco, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series

I haven't given up trying to catch up! 😂 I did this on audio since that's all I could get on Libby. If, like me, you struggle with the Edmund/Fannie relationship of Mansfield Park, this might be a fun read for you. It's an irreverent take on the original, but if you know this going in, it helps. Elizabeth and Darcy make a few appearances in this, too, revisiting their roles from Pride and Premeditation. #JaneAustenThenandNow @Crinoline_Laphroaig

So, full review time. I liked that Mansfield Park was an art emporium and Fanny a burgeoning artist. The death of Sir Thomas was sad but a great motivator for all of the selfish habits of the family to come to light. I suspected the murderer from the beginning but the whole motive wasn't overly obvious either. I enjoyed the slight change in Mary Crawford, to be more sympathetic & trying to gain real friendship with Fanny. The ending was satisfying

A fun read, and the mystery kept me guessing. I loved that Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy appeared!

It's been getting more and more chilly here in Michigan, so I'm very happy to take advantage of a sunshine-y day with some reading in the garden! Tirzah Price's latest Austen mystery was slow to start for me, but then suddenly I found I'd read more than 200 pages all at once. 😂 Planning to finish out the day with the final third of a different take on Fanny Price and, let's face it, probably a cocktail at some point. Happy Saturday, friends!

peanutnine Nice! I loved the ending of this one 4mo
Andrea313 @peanutnine Same here! I'm not usually a Mary Crawford fan but she was great in this remix! 4mo
Austen_meets_Annie I struggled with her Pride and Premeditation and never went back to. Need to revisit this one. 4mo
Andrea313 @Crinoline_Laphroaig That one was by far the weakest imo, I had to force myself to finish. This one and the S&S one were silly fun, if a little slow to start. 4mo
