My #readingbracket2025 as of April 2025. Sunrise on the Reaping told Haymitch's story the way I knew it had to go for him to cope the way he does as an adult victor. But then Collins took it up 10 notches and absolutely decimated my heart with the other tributes' stories/deaths, the spotlight on the insidious nature of propaganda, a small glimpse of what it takes to start a revolution, and the reality of how long it can take to effect change.

flying_monkeys If you enjoyed the evolution of a revolution aspects of Sunrise on the Reaping & you can't wait for the movie, I recommend you check out the limited series, Andor, which really digs into what it takes to radicalize someone from a person who's simply trying to survive under imperial control to fighting for freedoms they may never be able to enjoy themselves. Andor also illuminates how an authoritarian rises to power using the law and propaganda. 4d
DogMomIrene I need to watch Andor. Since it‘s capped at 2 seasons, I may binge it, and then rewatch Rogue One. I think I‘m having a hard time with this one because we do know how it ends for him. 2d
flying_monkeys @DogMomIrene Season 2 is set up/ timed so that every 3 episodes it takes you one year closer to the beginning of Rogue One. So most of us fans immediately watched Rogue One after the finale. It‘s pretty seamless. And you may know how it ends, but trust me, the journey to get there, woo boy! It‘s emotional, it‘s heartbreaking, but just remember the main takeaway of Andor is, Rebellions are built on hope. 🥹 1d

I wasn‘t confident about my choices, so I never posted it…but here‘s my April #ReadingBracket2025.

I‘m thinking about it now because I‘m musing about May‘s selection. I‘ve been reading Idle Grounds & just loving it. I‘m only a few pages from the end — really dragging my feet on the conclusion. What if I‘m somehow disappointed?

Anyway, my choice for April is John Green‘s The Anthropocene Reviewed. Eminently listenable! 🎧

Mantel is still ahead.

Berry.Villain Where can I get the blank copy? 4d
monalyisha @Berry.Villain It‘s from @CSeydel — you may need to scroll through her posts quite a bit. I think she likely posted it towards the beginning of the year. 3d
CSeydel @berry.villain I tagged you in the post but then I remembered I could post a direct link to it! Here it is in case anyone else is looking: https://litsy.com/p/TXdoWG1rQWx3 3d
CSeydel If I could wish for one upgrade to Litsy it would be the ability to search a hashtag on a specific user profile 3d

A bit late, but my favourite book from April was The Brides of High Hill by Nghi Vo, the latest fantasy novella about a nonbinary, story-collectimg monk who travels to an ancient estate for a wedding. There are shades of Bluebeard here, but not all is as it seems! I loved this horror-tinged story, but I think We Are Okay by Nina LaCour was more emotionally resonant for me, so that's the winner in that bracket. #ReadingBracket2025

April wasn't a great month of reading. What I read was just okay, so while I pick Scalzi's “When the Moon Hits Your Eye“ as my top pick for April, it only comes with a so-so approval rating. I am moving it forward over The Black Cat Tail Assassins, but that's only because I felt just so-so about that book too. #bookbracket #2025bookbracket #readingbracket #readingbracket2025

April Romance #ReadingBracket2025
It was a very difficult choice between At First Spite and Lavash at First Sight (a weird title coincidence) but I ultimately decided to go with this one. I really loved the character growth of the two main characters

My #readingbracket2025 of this month! Kind of a reading slump towards the end of the month, but still came out with lots of good books! For this month's winner we have The Tower of Nero (tagged) and for my two wild cards I have The Tyrant's Tomb and My Ishmael!
