One of my favorite local Indie bookstores was advertising the release of this one today. It is a new to me author but I'm still super excited that 1. It takes place in Traverse City and 2. It's signed by the author. I am planning on saving this one until we start seeing actual 🌨❄☃️

The Lido | Libby Page
post image
Pickpick

This beautiful book is a love story on multiple levels- that of life-long partners, of friends new and old, and love of a community. Mostly it made me reflect on how lucky I am to have my own local lido (pictured here closed for cold weather). Detroit's Brennan Pool opened in the 1920s, and was the site of the US swimming Olympic trials in the 1950s. Now I get to spend my sunny days here, and I'm reminded not to take that for granted.

JamieArc Oooh I didn‘t know about this pool. I loved this book too. It‘s a dream to live near a community pool one day. #mittenlitten (edited) 2mo

Finally went to the library for the first time in two years! It felt so good to walk into that gorgeous building; these stamps and stickers are making my day. ♥️📚❤️ #LibraryLove #DetroitPublicLibrary #MittenLitten #DetroitLove

LiteraryinLawrence What a good feeling! 💗 2mo
sharread Wow the Detroit Public Library. Awesome. The last time I was there I was 17. Did you goto the DIA too? 2mo
Andrea313 @sharread No, unfortunately, just into the library and on my way! The DIA was one of the first places in Detroit to fully re-open, though, IIRC; I should head over there soon. 2mo

Just a few off my #OctoberPile, with the cool breeze of a Michigan fall right outside that door! Can't wait to get started! #LittensDressedInBlood #MittenLitten #TBR

fredthemoose I didn‘t realize #MittenLitten was a thing! I‘m in Ann Arbor but work in Detroit. ☺️ 2mo

Andrea313 @fredthemoose Yes! There are a bunch of us who use the tag, and it's always fun to see who is local. I live and work in Detroit. 😊 2mo
JamieArc We are having a strange, but really nice fall here in Lansing! A nice breeze, but definitely not cool at 78 and sunny! 2mo

Each October, my two best friends and I spend a weekend at a cottage #UpNorth for a reading retreat. We do take walks and enjoy the outdoors and have the occasional heart-to-heart; but primarily we sit in companionable silence and tear through as many books as we can. It's my favorite, most indulgent weekend of the year, and though it's still a couple weeks away, I'm already beginning to make my book selections for the trip! #MittenLitten

"Work" today means a 12-hour performance art piece in a now disused, once glorious, Detroit theatre. Ragnar Kjartansson's BLISS takes three minutes from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and loops it, with live singers and orchestra, for twelve hours. We're at the halfway point and I'm still enchanted- though feeling for my performer colleagues! #SeeMoreOpera #MittenLitten

The One You Want | Rachel Schurig

At a conference on Mackinac Island today, which has me wanting to revisit Rachel Schurig's "Lilac Bay" series, inspired by Mackinac. The tagged book is partially set at a hotel based on the island's glorious Grand Hotel (pictured here). #MittenLitten

AmyK1 I love Mackinac Island! Have fun! 2mo
JamieArc Ooh. I‘ll have to check out that series. #mittenlitten 2mo
Mynameisacolour Love it! Are the leaves changing there yet? We are taking a trip to the Island around the 16th of next month and I hope it won't be too late for all the color. 2mo
Tamra Such a fun place - been a long time though. 2mo
Andrea313 @Mynameisacolour The leaves are juuuuust starting to change! Usually everything is absolutely gorgeous by mid-October; my fingers are crossed for you! 2mo

Spent a lovely morning in Petoskey, Michigan yesterday by the Ernest Hemingway statue in the park. Really need to read his Nick Adams stories set in the area. #MittenLitten
