Untangle Your Emotions
Untangle Your Emotions: Naming What You Feel and Knowing What to Do About It | Jennie Allen
8 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
The New York Times bestselling author of Get Out of Your Head provides a revolutionary path to embracing a healthy relationship with your emotions, one that leads to life-giving connection with God and others as well as to a richer understanding of yourself. This book is worth thousands of dollars of counseling.Jonathan Pokluda, bestselling author and host of the Becoming Something podcast How often have you heard, Dont let your emotions get the best of you? But what if instead of ignoring our feelings, we noticed them, named them, and let God use them to draw us closer to Himself and others? Many of us need to unlearn damaging messages about our emotions. Weve been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy, when, in fact, God can use them to help us see where we need His healing. In Untangle Your Emotions, Jennie Allen uses scientific research, biblical insight, and her own story to help you ? exchange stuffing, dismissing, or minimizing your emotions for a five-step process to know what you feel and what to do about it ? debunk the myth that feelings are sinful by learning how emotional maturity leads to deeper connection with God and others ? live emotionally healthy by applying biblical wisdom and therapeutic research that works whether you self-identify as emotional or not ? sit with feelings that are confusing and painful by discovering the depth of Gods love and compassion for you Feelings arent something to fix; they are something to feel. As we discover how to name and navigate our emotions, well learn how they can draw us closer to the God who built ussoul, mind, and heart.

Pickpick

Allen‘s book offered me an opportunity to remember the importance of recognizing emotions and the impact they have on my body, mind and spirit. She offers simple, but effective ways to understand and let go of emotions that hurt our ability to enjoy life. She reminds readers that they may not be able to heal without professional help. This was a 4⭐️ pick and pick-me-up at the right time.

#WhatsNewWednesday Our family rescued Regi last week when his owner surrendered him. We are fostering him with the first option to adopt. Trust me ~ we will be adopting him. Regi will be 5 in October. He is smart and FULL of energy. I‘m learning from Jennie Allen in the tagged book to feel my feelings and having Regi in my life has brought pure joy and happiness to my days with a bit of longing added in when I have to go to work and leave him.

Princess-Kingofkings @dabbe His first mom misses him. I sent her a video this morning of him running full blast in the backyard to which she responded that it was perfect for him. 💙 6mo

I may need to make this book an annual read. I almost feel as if I need a therapist to help me practice what I‘m learning. I‘m definitely more aware and that‘s a good place to start. 🪷

I‘m lucky enough to have the ARC of this one! It‘s releasing in a couple of weeks and it‘s so good! It‘s great companion to her Get Out of Your Head book she wrote a few years back.
