Pickpick

I was initially disheartened when they were in a pet store and not adopting from a rescue… then I had to remind myself that it was originally written decades ago. The publisher‘s note did address this, to my relief. I also didn‘t like the rhyming as much as his other books, as it didn‘t seem to flow as well, in my opinion. The story itself – I did like the ending. Which pet did they get?

I love how it never shows the pet at the end. It only shows the eyes in the basket.

This book is about two kids who go to the pet store and have to make up their minds about which pet to get. They can only have one and they love them all but they have to make up decision before noon. At the end they end up picking out a pet but it never shows which pet they picked out.

Clockwise from the left we have my adorable 3 year old Flour, 3 year old Bruin (he and Flour are literally just days apart for birthdays), 6 year old Nina, her 6 year old brother Ned (also known by me as Neddard Stark or Nedi Pot) and 2 year old Belle.
