Summer at Tall Trees Lake
Summer at Tall Trees Lake | CP Ward
2 posts | 2 read
The second book in the Glorious Summer series from CP Ward, author of the Delightful Christmas series. When worryingly-close-to-forty Jane Bennett wins a tent in an employee of the month competition, her best friend Annabel suggests they take the unremarkable prize and head for the Cornish countryside. Jane, unmarried, unheralded, and--in her own eyes at least--unimportant, can come up with no decent excuse. After a series of mishaps, the two women find themselves at the charming but failing Tall Trees Lake Camping and Caravan Park, where the family-owned park's errant son, Dean Stinton, has just returned from overseas, into the middle of a battle for the park's survival against its predatory neighbour, Tall Trees Premier, run by his jilted ex-lover, Kelly Coldwinter. As the battle between the two camping parks heats up, Jane, suffering from a crisis of identity while fighting off a growing attraction to Dean, finds herself caught in the middle. Full of the humour and heartwarming joy that CP Ward's fans have come to know and love, Summer at Tall Trees Lake will having you pining for the smell of barbeques, glorious sunsets, and the possibility of romance beneath the warm summer sun. This was kinda cute, nothing groundbreaking, but a quick summery read! Cute cover, though.

Just ok. Definitely not as good as the first book in the series. I prefer my series reads to contain the same characters or location. This is a series because they take place in summer. I didn‘t like several of the characters finding them annoying or under developed.

TheSpineView Great job for finishing even though it was a lackluster book. 1mo
TheAromaofBooks I'm always mildly annoyed by books that are listed as a “series“ but actually have no overlapping characters. 1mo
