Book 3📚 2.5⭐️
As with most Palahniuk, I am a tinsy bit confused😂 hence the mid rating.
I have an idea of what occurred in this book😅 but it feels unfinished somehow?
Ah well!

What if the smartest high schoolers in the world don't go to college but get sold to the highest bidder? Their parents get millions of dollars and the teenager gets groomed to be the next "X". This makes for a WEIRD book, as Palahniuk tends to write, as you really don't know what's going to happen when you turn the page. I also didn't "get" a lot of the book, as I don't take LSD & it will also win an award for writing the word "avocado" A LOT
Shock Induction is such a Chuck Palahniuk novel, and if you have read him before, then you know what I mean. What a fever dream of a novel! Filled with his signature dark humor and writing style that makes the reader feel as if they are in the head of his characters, Palahniuk brings you into the insanity of this dystopian world he has created. It's a WTF book, with weird, cutting and trippy prose, and let me just leave it at this...avocado.
This book almost feels like you are going in and out of consciousness. It will make total sense then no sense at all. Chaos and genius. In all that chaos there is actually a story. A good story. I cant explain it. This is very much in the vein of Fight Club. A fever dream of a story for sure.
Having read many of Palahniuk‘s novels I was very excited when given the opportunity to listen to Shock Induction, but even with my knowledge of his style I found myself rather lost throughout this novel. There is an amazing story here, I just struggled only listening to the story and not having the words in my hands. It seemed like the story jumped around a bit and I often wasn‘t sure how I got to where I was and what happened to lead up to it.
Started this one on my lunch break.
