she_barks @Suet624 I don't, but I'm in the TOB Goodreads group, and keep hearing mid-January. It shouldn't be too far away. Maybe someone who knows will see this and post a better date. 7y

so-so

The arrival of gypsies disrupts a sleepy town in the Pennsylvania rust belt and begins to expose the cracks in the community's social fabric. A host of characters suggest (somewhat reminiscent of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter) that life in a small-town is fundamentally lonely. Littell crafts some beautiful sentences and images, but overall I found this sleepy town book pretty snoozy. Stick with McCullers. A #ToB17 long list book.

A strong debut novel that accurately depicts small town mentality and the L Trifecta of literature--Love , Loss, Longing. A bit slow at times but the main characters are very well realized. Great fall read. The author really captures the season and uses its moody qualities effectively. Recommend for readers who enjoy atmospheric character studies. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
