As the snow falls, the haunting begins... Get ready for the most gripping cosy murder mystery debut of the year. 'A delightfully engaging debut, starring one of the most amusing and unusual sleuths I’ve come across. Best enjoyed with a nice glass of sherry!' Tess Gerritsen A grand country estate. On her last day as a Detective, Midge McGowan is given the retirement present from hell: a ticket to take part in a haunted house tour. She’ll have to spend the weekend before Christmas ghost-hunting in an isolated mansion with a group of misfits, including a know-it-all paranormal investigator and a has-been pop star. An impossible crime. It isn’t long before the tour starts to spiral out of control. Midge and the guests see an unsettling figure walking the grounds late at night. Then the unthinkable happens – someone is murdered in a room that’s been locked from the inside. A Christmas they might not survive. Heavy snow cuts them off from help, the house’s own dark secrets begin to surface, and Midge can’t shake the creeping sense that they are walking into a nightmare. Could a ghost really be responsible, or is the culprit one of the guests?

Short Review:

This was quite a good cosy mystery with a well-worked out plot. I found it difficult to warm to Midge as a main character at first, but then I pictured her as being played by a middle-aged Miriam Margolyes & that helped. I do think that she was a little bit too timid though, & her characterisation focused too much on her weight at times. I'd definitely read another 'Midge Mystery' though. 4🌟

i picked up three new to me titles at the local book door in Lititz PA on my annual Chocolate Walk trip with my sister and my past TV coworkers. I had not heard if any of these books or authors so these were interesting finds. They look spooky, twisty, and fun.

Just started this one. Not caught but I‘m hoping it just hasn‘t set the hook yet. Sorrynotsorry for the fishing lingo but this has been The Summer of the Fish!

PatriciaU The hook was set! This read a bit like The Maid set in an English Country House Murder plot with a touch of the movie Clue. Weird and a bit tragic. 4mo
