Praise for Jack Whyte and "The Camulod Chronicles": "Jack Whyte is a master storyteller.... Whyte breathes life into the Arthurian myths by weaving the reality of history into them." --Tony Hillerman"From the building blocks of history and the mortar of reality, Jack Whyte has built Arthur's world and showed us the bone beneath the flesh of legend." --Diana Gabaldon"An extraordinary story, totally original, and clearly there is a lot more excitement to come in the upcoming volumes." --Rosamunde Pilcher

More Arthurian book mail today ⚔️

(Also I‘m not sure why the book profile on this book says it‘s written by the same author who wrote the Crystal Cave (it is not!)

The first book in a series of about 8. It covers the time where the Roman Empire is dying and the natives of the British isles are retaking control. Setting the stage for the coming of King Arthur- which happens in the 6th book I believe.
If you‘re a fan of historical fiction, this is a must read.

1. The Camulod Chronicles by Jack Whyte. An ex gave me the first couple books and said he couldn‘t put them down while he was on deployment in the merchant marines. He was a tool but the first book was not.

2. The first several Harry Potter‘s came out on/around my birthday. It was always exciting.

3. You know, I‘m not sure. Maybe Simon from 7 Types of Ambiguity by Elliot Perlman.

@shanaqui @GingerAntics I don't know if you've seen this but thought you might be interested.

shanaqui Yes! I read the whole Vulgate Cycle (though never did any work on it at all), so this was totally fascinating. 5y
GingerAntics Oh wow I hadn‘t seen that. That‘s cool. It will be interesting to see if a new book comes out with the new/extra/rediscovered information. 5y

The Skystone is the first book in Jack Whyte's historical fiction series about Camelot. Whyte ingeniously sets the origins of Camelot as the vision of two retired Roman centurions after the legions withdraw from Briton.
