A busy Saturday, including picking up hot cross buns from a local bakery for Easter tomorrow. 🐣 It‘s been moody & rainy all day, & now that I‘m home, I‘m sitting down with a cup of tea, two cheeky dk. chocolate Milano cookies & my current read. A fascinating memoir about growing up in Australia during the 1930‘s & 40‘s. I had this recommended to me, by a friend - lingering on my shelves for far too long. It‘s brilliant!

jlhammar I loved this book! Her follow-up, True North, is also wonderful. 2y
EvieBee Very nice! I recently picked up both this and the follow up at a little free library. Looking forward to revisiting them. 2y
quietjenn I got this and the follow-up at a used bookstore ages ago but haven‘t read them. Perhaps you will inspire me! 2y

Finally gathered up some of my chosen books for #Booked2021. 1. The Road from Coorain, 2. The Future of Ice, and 6. A Gentleman in Moscow. Prompts 3, 4, and 5 for winter have yet to be finalized. One reason I chose the Coorain, in addition to the obvious, is it‘s been in my library since the early 90s, and I‘ve never read it. Now is the time!

Cinfhen Yay-!!! And pretty quilt 3y

This is one of my favorite memoirs. I read it years ago but still ranks high. I loved all three of Jill Kerr Conway‘s memoirs but this is my fav, about growing up in 1960s Australia. #memoirs #recsforbecks

Curiouser_and_curiouser Oooh! I have this one on my shelf, picked it up last year. Glad to hear you loved it! 4y

Pickpick

This is the memoir of Australian historian, Jill Ker Conway. It takes us through her childhood, growing up on a sheep farm in the outback, to her academic pursuits as an adult, first in Sydney and later at Harvard. Very well-written.
