Is it sometimes best not to confess one‘s love but to keep it a secret? In this poem Blake explains why sometimes it‘s better to have loved and kept quiet than to tell your affections. 🤷‍♀️

#poetrymatters #seek

TheSpineView Not sure I agree with his view. Regardless, I like the poem. 😊 4y

#AugustABC #Innocence I came to William Blake through Allen Ginsberg. His obsession with the poet is well known .I treasure my Doubleday edition of Blake , I couldn‘t find it used and purchased it when I really wasn‘t making much money.That makes the fact that I kept it so long even sweeter.

Eggs I did some of my best writing about Blake. in college (edited) 5y

Just found out about the wonderful #PoetryMatters challenge by @LazyDays 💜 I'm going to try to participate ... as much as I can 😁 Today's (Aug 2) prompt is #smile and this one by William Blake fits the bill.

Background is his painting Glad Day or The Dance of Albion (1794).

Tanisha_A Love this! 💌 6y

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

Alfoster One of my favorite poems!! 8y
CynCruz23 I love this poem and then I loved it more when Jon Snow said it in his car commercial 😂😝 8y
TheBookAddict Just recently heard this poem. It was being compared to "the Lamb" poem, because of how Blake's poems go from positive and worshiping to negative and questioning. 8y
Bkwurm An evocative poem from a man who had never even seen a picture of a tiger. He was going completely off descriptions! 8y
MariaW O, what land is the land of dreams? What are its mountains, and what are its streams? 8y
