The first book in a new and utterly original sci-fi series that's perfect for fans of Under the Never Sky and The Darkest Minds, about the strange, strong bond between two sisters, one of whom cannot speak or understand any human language. Seventeen-year-old Lorna loves her adoptive sister, Callie. But Callie can't say "I love you" back. In fact, Callie can't say anything at all. Because Callie is an Iceling--one of hundreds of teens who were discovered sixteen years ago on a remote Arctic island, all of them lacking the ability to speak or understand any known human language. Mysterious and panicked events lead to the two sisters embarking on a journey to the north, and now Lorna starts to see that there's a lot more to Callie's origin story than she'd been led to believe. Little does she know what's in store, and that she's about to uncoverthe terrifying secret about who--and what--Callie really is."

Well the Austin TX area is still frozen, and my work is without power, so I suppose I‘ll have to spend another day reading and catching up on a few letters.

I do feel very lucky to still have power, from the news it seems 50,000 or more in the area still don‘t. I did lose at least a third of the big maple tree in my front yard, but at least I‘m warm and safe.

RaeLovesToRead Those icicles are fab 😯 1y

Pickpick

I loved the weirdness of this book and the sass of the main character.

Each new issue that came with each chapter either brought me anxiety or tears or laughter but I was always feeling the emotions of the characters and because of that I loved it.

A few things i wish i knew more about, though. But still 4.5⭐️

I like the overall premise, it kept me interested. I don't know that I'd want to read more of these and it's supposed to be a series. The writing at the end of the book is better than that at the beginning, although it still reads like a teenager wrote it for other teenagers. I don't think this is one of those YA books that will appeal to adults. That's ok but you should know it before giving it a try.

This was a decent YA book about a girl's relationship with a strange sister she can never hope to understand. I liked the idea behind this section.

also I got the book from penguin's first to read.
