My lovely Clothbound Classic contains all 3 Volumes of Jane Austen's Juvenilia. I've finished Volume 1. Silly but oh so delightful. 📖📚🫖

Jane Austen wrote Love and Friendship (originally spelled Love and Freindship [sic]) when she was just 14 years old. The three notebooks that contain her early works, including this story, are currently on display at the Bodleian Library and the British Museum. Taking the form as letters written by the heroine to the daughter of her friend, this story resembles a fairy tale that lampoons the conventions of romantic stories at the time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

My #bookspin book is done 🥳 I actually had previously started this then kept putting it down, but it being my bookspin made me finish this time. It‘s a pick I think because I love Austen. Don‘t think it‘s required unless you‘re a huge fan & want some analysis on her early work. Some quite good others not so much. You can see her wit shine through though, just not as polished.

3rd Read of #austeninaugust2019 -
Sometimes silly with unbelievable plots at times. You can however see the talent in these first works of a very young Jane Austen. 🤓

You can tell this was written by a very young Jane Austen. I didn't enjoy the tales in letter form. There were many misspellings and tedious details. I liked The History of England the best of the stories. Also you see names such as Dashwood, Willoughby, Musgrove and many other familiar names that she will use in her later novels.

FeastOfFiction The title is even spelled wrong! 6y
Rachbb3 @FeastOfFiction Lol, I know. The i before e except after c did not factor in. 6y

The back of the book explains it as an early work of Jane Austen's with an endearing misspelled title. I'm trying to see it that way. I really am.

CoffeeNBooks 😯 Oh goodness, that's kind of an obvious misspelling! 🤣 6y

Starting Love and Friendship tonight for my #Litsyclassics challenge, but also waiting for the hubby to get home so we can watch last night's episode of Genius: Picasso. Is anyone else watching this? I'm obsessed!!

JamieArc Where are you watching it? I‘m intrigued! 6y
Rachbb3 @JamieArc Its on the National Geographic channel. It's so good. 6y

So many of my #bookmarks my friends have given me seem to have quotes about friendship. Do you think they're telling me to spend more time with them? Or do they understand many of my best friends are books? 😂#booktober
