I like this author and her writing style. I know their stories can be slow, they are more character driven but with unlikely characters. As in Penance, we see revenge, morally questionable in their motives to justify their actions. I couldn‘t put it down. It was like a study of disturbed personalities caused for the presence of various factors. There social criticism. I can understand the mixed reviews but in my case I liked it. 4⭐️

2nd book by this author. I can say that I like how she develops the stories and the unlikely characters. For me, this story has many similarities with Rock Paper Scissors. There were parts I guessed but still I enjoyed this psychological thriller. Amber guessed she is in a hospital, she can hear everything but cannot move, doesn‘t remember what happened and the man talking to her, is her husband, who she thinks is responsible for what happened.
