Read in May-What was this?🤦🏽‍♀️Two timeline stories, one is about the present, Indigo, her husband and the story of the house. The other story is about the friendship, between Indigo and Azure. Dysfunctional? I think so. I enjoyed more this story. Something in the house is gothic, magical that will affect these two girls and Indigo‘s husband will discover the secret. But the Indigo you see at the beginning is not the same as you see at the end⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I can understand why Indigo changed, because of that secret but it was so drastic that doesn‘t make any sense for me. It was like a third character. But this novel has some beautiful lines, but for me, it was poorly connected. The box gifts were awful. The only thing I was interested was the puzzle and I don‘t like it☹️But I love that cover and I have a special edition of this book. It will stay for now🤷🏽‍♀️2.5/3⭐️

Read in May-1st book in this new duology🤷🏽‍♀️But related with These Violent Delights world, it should be read in order. I‘m still need to read the companion novellas🙄. I really enjoyed this story. It is about Rosalind. There are some twists and full of intrigue and action. The romance parts are very YA tone but they are cute and I some are funny. That ending😱Great! For a YA fantasy genre, 4⭐️

I enjoyed this novel, because it was so interesting to know about these immigrant Muslim families , how some of them integrated themselves better to a new culture without leaving their religious beliefs and traditions. Khalid and his mother were more traditional. I liked Ayesha, Nana popular/literary wisdom and Nani. Love the quotes and Ayesha poem and glad that the work discrimination was discussed and resolved. But⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) after I read some #Pemberlittens comments, I agree that some characters and actions were almost unreal but because this supposed to be a rom-com, it didn‘t bothered me. I read it as something funny “I chose to live (read) in a comedy, not a tragedy”. 😂I can‘t say how similar or not this novel is to Pride and Prejudice, I haven‘t read it, I have tried but is not my time yet to see myself finishing this novel😳🤷🏽‍♀️But I loved this one⬇️ 1y
Gissy I think this is a good start/motivation to read the original novel. I enjoyed @Staycurious comments/posts and questions. It is really interesting to read others opinions and reactions even when I read the novel late, after the assigned date. For me, I enjoyed it 3.8/4⭐️

First book read during #MagnificentMay @Andrew65

Book is from my old tbr since 2018. I found gifts were so practical and beautiful; the mug, the journal is beautiful, it has a quote inside “Ayesha, when I think of you, I see my future”😍

My romantic mood was up when I read it😂

Mixed feelings with this novel. I liked the “fortune” folklore/myth/story and the dynamic of this family. But sometimes characters actions/behaviors seemed to me like short stories/chunks without a well story integration, as a whole. It has some funny scenes but also some scenes were like “forced” to be funny. But it seems that this is an unpopular opinion with this novel🤷🏽‍♀️ 3⭐️

I like this author and her writing style. I know their stories can be slow, they are more character driven but with unlikely characters. As in Penance, we see revenge, morally questionable in their motives to justify their actions. I couldn‘t put it down. It was like a study of disturbed personalities caused for the presence of various factors. There social criticism. I can understand the mixed reviews but in my case I liked it. 4⭐️

This was a cute YA romance. Probably it should be rated as so-so but I found some part lovely but it is cheesy and very YA. What I liked was how Kimi, a Japanese American, tried to find her roots during her travel to Japan. Lovely relation with her grandparents and beautiful relation with her mother. I also found myself looking for some places, food and items they mentioned as part of the culture. 3⭐️
