This wasn't my favorite book by this Feeney, yet it drew me in and kept me guessing. Infact, I've finished it and I'm still trying to work some things out. Truly though, the unreliable narrator made for a lot of unanswered questions, which is, I believe, exactly what the author wanted. So, in that regard, bravo and, actually, all the stars! #audiobook
#BookBracket2024 Here is my pick for February. I loved Sometimes I Lie. I could not put it down and was so invested in what happened to Amber. Once I got to the end, I went back through the book to reread certain parts with the new info. I know I love a book when I check out reddit for other readers opinions and to help answer any questions or things I didn't understand.

pickIt‘s hard these days for a mystery-suspense novel to surprise me, but there were definitely a twist or two in here I didn‘t see coming. And I guess I should have known, given the title of the book. So many people love Alice Feeney as an author, and now I can see why. I read over the weekend and was the perfect escape from a tough week.

pickSo many twists and a really strong debut novel! I am still thinking about the ending and have been researching all the fan theories. I do think the most straightforward viewpoint makes the most sense, but was shocked by the way it all played out.
so-soThis started off really good for me, and then it lagged… a few little twists and turns so I came back around. But for me it wasn‘t very feasible enough to really recommend it
pickOh my goodness this was a page turner. Just when you think you've figured it out and think it may start to get dull there's another twist. Definitely a good read if you want something to keep you interested. Also short chapters which I very much enjoy.

so-soThis was our library book club‘s read for this month. One of those books that set readers up in ways that are nearly impossible to see the “twists” coming. Sometimes I love these types but sadly I didn‘t think this was compelling and as logical as many of the others with the same goal: to take the reader by surprise. This one has at least 3 surprising revelations but I didn‘t care about the characters or the plot really. Some of the group enjoyed.
pickI think this was her debut and it is a great debut Thriller. It wasn't my favorite from her but there is definitely alot of twists and turns, perhaps too many for me.
so-soNot one of my favorites from the author, but still good nonetheless. Her books are so twisted and gripping, that I can‘t seem to stop reading once I start. I‘m still mind blown about that ending though!

pick2nd book by this author. I can say that I like how she develops the stories and the unlikely characters. For me, this story has many similarities with Rock Paper Scissors. There were parts I guessed but still I enjoyed this psychological thriller. Amber guessed she is in a hospital, she can hear everything but cannot move, doesn‘t remember what happened and the man talking to her, is her husband, who she thinks is responsible for what happened.
I don‘t event know where to start with this one, I tore through it in a day. It was insanely good. Gripping story, weaving through 3 different times. Highly recommended!

pick1-16-22: My 7th finished book of 2022! This book was intense! Amber Reynolds is in a coma and desperately trying to wake up. The story is told back and forth between the weeks of right before Christmas to New Years 2016. We see what led up to the coma and eventually how it all happened while learning about Amber‘s sister and her strange upbringing. Being inside the coma with her is wild. So many twists and unexpected situations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣7️⃣

1. In general I prefer a fast moving plot, especially if I‘m reading a thriller or psychological suspense. If it‘s historical fiction I‘m fine with more of a slow burn.
2. The tagged book has a wonderful fast moving plot. I couldn‘t help turning those pages and loved the twists and turns.
so-soThis book was something else. Very quick read but it left me wonder wth! At the end. The idea of being in a coma but hearing everything going on around you was very intriguing. The confusing part is not knowing who is the insane person. Who lives? Who was the killer? So many questions!

pickI really like Alice Feeney‘s stories; the untrustworthy narrators and psychological suspense always pull me in.
bailedI had such high hopes for this book because of the reviews on it. But it‘s a hard bail for me. The only parts I liked was the detail of how patients can feel and hear while in a coma. But other then that, it bored me and just left me confused. It was all over the place. Super disappointed.
pickThe book had a slow start for me, but I ended up really enjoying it! I can be very picky with psychological thrillers since I guess most of them and get tired of the cliches, especially about women. However, this book was not like that. The ending took me by surprise. I like that many details were left mysterious or ambiguous. I especially thought the psychological aspects were well-done. If it sticks to the book, I think the show will be great!
pickGreat book if you're in the mood for one of those with lots of twists! I had whiplash by the end. Maybe I should of figured out what was going on, but honestly I was quite completely confused. Not very likeable characters (I really didn't like any of them) but a good read.

pickThis book was good. I really liked the premise of it and I love Feeney‘s stuff. The only way this one fell a little short for me was that the story was sometimes confusing and muddled between all the flipping back and forth through time and perspective. I felt like some of the plot points got lost in it all
so-soI think so-so is the best description for this one. Some of the twists are good and thought-through, some feel rushed and meh. I think I am going to give the TV series a try when it's out because I want to see if they are able to improve the meh bits and focus on the good ones. What did you all think about Sometimes I Lie?
so-soThe end of Ecclesiastes 1:9 states that there is nothing new under the sun and that‘s exactly what kept running through my head with this book. Most of the twists in Sometimes I Lie have been done so many times before. That doesn‘t mean an author can‘t take those twists and put a fresh spin on them. I didn‘t feel that was the case here, though. I found myself unsurprised by it all and that was incredibly disappointing.
pickAlice Feeney did it again. This book was shocking. I love the unreliable narrator and the flashbacks. The ending took me by complete surprise. The sexual assault was uncomfortable to read and should be a trigger warning.
pickThat was really twisted! I liked it! I did not anticipate the ending at all. Apparently there is a sequel and I will definitely check that out.

pickI enjoy an unreliable narrator, so this book was right up my alley. The read totally hurt my brain a little bit, but I liked it. Things are messy & confusing & seem to keep getting messier even as they are starting to unravel. It's a complicated concept with a lot of twists & turns. Some of the twists are easy to figure out & some are not. It's SUPER convoluted & I found it gripping. I really enjoyed the writing style & didn't want to put it down.
