It‘s an insightful book about mother daughter relationship and surviving the hard times. Author beautifully narrates her mother‘s personality before & after illness. It‘s heartbreaking at the same time there is lot to learn about family, how to keep the bonds strong esp when the things are fragile. And of course the narration is too good. 5🌟

Tsuneno was the daughter of a rural Buddhist priest, born in 19th century Japan. She aspires to leave the country (and ultimately 3 marriages) and move to Edo (the eponymous city, now Tokyo). Stubborn and adventurous, she irritates her family to no end. And it‘s all a true story ferreted out by social historian Amy Stanley.

A really well told quest of a great granddaughter‘s determination to reunite her great grandfather‘s paintings that were separated & scattered during WWII. Moshe Rynecki vividly & painstakingly painted Jewish daily life in Poland from the early 1900‘s until his deportation to the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940. A truly heart filled memoir. #Pop21 #AboutArt #Nonfiction21 #AboutFamily #Booked21 #ContainsPhotographs
