What is your reading goals for 2022? Any specific challenges ?

My only reading challenge last year was #nonfiction2021 and I read more than I thought I would! Quite a few of my favourite reads were non-fiction.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great job! I‘m so glad you found it worked for you and led you to some great books. 3y
Nute Happy New Year, Katie!💜🥳💜 I have often been surprised, just like you, at how much I enjoy reading non-fiction. Maybe because a lot of it is very well-written and, quite often, truth is stranger than fiction so the intrigue, unbelievable and incredible telling pulls the reader along at a breakneck pace. Great reading accomplishment! 3y
youneverarrived @Riveted_Reader_Melissa thanks for putting it together. Definitely inspired me to read more 🙌 3y
youneverarrived @Nute 🥂♥️ oh definitely, I find a lot of non-fiction well written and so fascinating! I love that I always learn a lot from non-fiction too. 3y

One of the prompts for #Nonfiction2021 was “sunshiney or yellow,“ and what's more yellow than a banana? I've been interested in food justice issues for a long time (the pic is a banana article I wrote in 2002) and Koeppler does an excellent job of tracing the history and diversity of banana varieties, tackling the incredible history of corporate domination and exploitation involved, and looking into the risky future of the current popular strain.

This was thoughtful and moving: a chronicle by Garbriel Garcia Marquez's son of the deaths of his parents. An intriguing insight into accompanying your parents through death, something many of us experience, when one of them is one of the most significant writers of the 20th century. If ihad read more of Marquez's work and more recently, I'm sure I would have appreciated it even more.

I think everyone should read this book irrespective of their gender. Loved the way author puts her thought in a humble way, with logic. Brilliant 5🌟

I found this fascinating to listen to. He writes scientifically but in a way that‘s easy to understand. It details why people struggle to lose weight, the weight set point, metabolism, our eating habits (& why the western diet is pretty bad - overly processed food etc) & lots more. In the late chapters he gives a plan of how to lose weight for good but it felt a bit farfetched, you‘d have to be super dedicated to stick to the whole plan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

youneverarrived #nonfiction2021 something about helping others 3y
Megabooks I‘m stacking this but I‘m not really into dieting. Sounds interesting otherwise! 3y
youneverarrived @Megabooks it‘s really interesting. He talks about how dieting doesn‘t really work and it‘s not the main focus of the book so you might like it. It‘s only the latter part of the book where he gives a plan of what to eat etc. 3y
